Why not buy another bush hog brand? Well I don't know? I will look at bush hog brand and many others. My bush hog is probably one of the first made. How much do product reputations change in 20 years? I want value for my money. I believe Toyota makes the best vehicle made, but I drive a Chevrolet. Because for the money I feel they are a better buy. I will use the same criteria shopping for a rotary cutter. Dealer is another thing. I don't know of any bush hog dealers close. Maybe I'll just buy one from CCI, looks like they have some stuff that will fit the bill.

Fair enough. The Bush Hog I purchased this year has already provided service beyond what I expected. It is durable, well constructed, and capable of cutting far greater diameters than the factory approves of. From a "reputation" stand point, they have exceeded what I expected and delivered a quality product. I am certain that there are other cutters on the market that are just as good, might even be some that are better. For me, I'm satisfied with the Bush Hog brand of products and plan on adding more to my stable of attachments.

On price - my personal take is that I try to never look at price first - because every time I do I wind up getting burned. Case in point. I needed a power saw to angle cut the rafters on the house we are building. As far as I could tell, I wouldn't need the saw again after this house. So the maximum number of cuts the saw would need to make is 128 (64 rafters times 2 cuts per rafter equals 128). Needing to make sure the project stayed in budget I bought a cheap 10" sliding compound miter saw for $120. It lasted all of one day before it broke. I lost an afternoon replacing it and the cost of the saw. Wound up going with a 12" power miter saw from De Walt. The difference in quality is amazing. While the tool was 3 times as much, it will easily provide service for years to come.

As for Chevy vs. Toyota - I think I'll stay out of that one! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
