Hello,
We have a 4 1/2 acre field on a hill that was used over the years for hay but has gone to weed over the past 5 years. We bought it last year. I have started mowing it every couple of weeks with my Kubota BX2200 60" mower and it was starting to look good except now it is completely overrun with poison ivy. Those little plants are absolutely everywhere (which caused me a good deal of itching for several weeks last fall).
I noticed a lot of vines hidden in the high weeds last year after I mowed the first time. I had always thought that if I kept a field shorn to 2"-3" , the poison ivy wouldn't survive, but now I have my doubts.
Does anyone have any tips?
I am also thinking of stopping at TSC and getting a tow-behind 45-gallon Agri-Fab with an 8' boom sprayer and treating the field with some 2,4-D.
I'd appreciate any insight with an Agri-Fab sprayer or how to rid the field of Poison Ivy.
Thanks
Rick
