Well, maybe not so perfect.
I can't get anywhere close to actual blades. Just general page saying how great their blades and pricing is. That's it, no links further to any product itself.

Ok, so they have PDF version of their catalog in tiny little link hidden in the R hand bottom corner. Who is their web designer?

Good for you for not using chemicals. I live in farm country and it seems everyone kills everything with round up and 2-4d. I know it is perfectly safe /s. None will take a sip though.

You should be able to get scoop knives from flail master. Take one of your current blades and measure the width at the bottom of the Y, and measure from the top of the mounting hole to the bottom of the blade. The blades stay in the Y configuration when spinning. Flail masters catalog has the dimensions on the parts. Would be great if you could get close in weight. Do you have a scale that can weight something that small?

At the bottom of the page is a link to download the catalog. Hope this helps.

Ha ha, I JUST NOW saw where you said "at the bottom of the page" catalog.

OK, so a scoop like this, right? In attached pic

Sorry, there's a billion post long thread on flail mowers already. People like to jibber-jabber!

I once tried to buy a FORD 917 pull behind, maybe four feet? (only one I have ever seen) to pull behind an Eight Wheel Diesel ARGO. The guy wasn't interested in my offer. It would have been interesting.

Yup, those are what you want. Not looking at the catalog, but I believe they are organised by make, though many use the same part number. If you can't find yours you can measure and get something that will work. They are great to deal with over the phone as well. Good people.

Good luck and sorry about the derail:thumbsup:

yeah, it's called thread hijacking. Loose mods here, I figure.

Thanks, Ink. I'll have to measure my Y blade width at the blades cutting edge, to see if it matches those scoops.
They somehow appear to be narrower, so may not work, I presume.
Saturday, that will be my mow day. ebay is also full of various blades.

Now, back to OP.

How to set up cutting height? Skids just barely touch the ground? Or, tilting mower and actually measuring from the blade edge to the ground? Eyeballing it based on the cut? At what point too low is too low? Skids start plowing though high points?

There is some overlap so not being exactly same width may not be a problem. Just measure the distance across the bottom of the Y. If you measure and post what you have, we might be able to help.

Setting the height is easy. Measure the distance from the blades hanging down to the ground. Since yours is a tow behind, you may have to adjust each wheel. I go by eye myself as my wife doesn't measure the grass to see if it is in spec after cutting:D

ukrkoz, Not sure that you saw this in the other thread, since it didn't get any replies, so will post it in your thread:

Anyhow. I have 4 rows 8 blade stations each. Not spiral arrangement obviously. Checker board.
yes, waffle effect is quite observable. Give it about 5 -6 days, and it clearly shows itself.

------------------------------------------.

Mine is a single spiral. The hangers are evenly spaced in the row:

Yours is a double spiral arrangement. Two hangers closer in the row, in a double spiral around the drum:

The way the blades are set in a spiral is not real obvious.

You are not married to mine, that's for sure.

I could swear... I know what fooled me. When I looked at English and German spiral arrangement mowers, you could clearly SEE how attachments run in a spiral. Or two spirals. Every next mounting point will be somewhat higher than one before. Not next to each other. Makes beautiful spiral moving across rotor, when running.
