Had TC25D, now JD X310
I know there have been several discussions about sprayers on TBN, but most of them, as I recall, were about PTO powered ones.

I need to get a tow behind for use with our garden tractor (16hp Wheel Horse) for my wife to use since she wont use the 'big' tractor, our TC25D, which is fine with me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Northern has an electric 15 gallon for a little under $300 and a 26 gallon model for $300. The ones at Northern look like the ones in the TSC catalog. The requirements are booms that fold out for spraying weed killer on our riding ring plus a wand that will allow spraying wherever she can tow the sprayer.

Any recommendations, pro or con, with buying something like this from Northern.

A couple years ago I bought a 15 gallon tow behind that sounds like what you're describing. It was from Tractor Supply, and I think it was around $150. It has a handgun and a pair of arms that fold down with a spray nozzle at each end. Spray pattern covers at least 6'. It works off of a small demand pump.

On my B7500 I used a "flat two" trailer plug for an auxiliary light in the rear, so that provides a good place for power. It can be switched on and off as desires from the seat.

The one thing that was a pain was backing up with the tiny trailer attached. This was solved by making a small platform for the 3PH. With the wheels removed, the tank gets strapped onto the mini-carryall. The sprayer becomes part of the tractor instead of a whippy tagalong.................chim

Mike, those are nice little rigs. You're not likely to have problems with those SHURflo pumps, but if you ever do, you can buy the pumps and/or any parts you might need from most RV places since it's the same thing as the water pump in lots of RVs.

I have a 15gal tow behind for my garden tractor. Works ok, but check and find out what pattern nozzels have. You may need a different set. Some of the low end tow behinds done have standard changable nozzels.

I made a sprayer for my compact, A carry all, 55gal plastic drum and a PTO pump.

Thanks for all the great advice. I will order one today.

My wife has been dealing with the weeds in the riding ring either by hand or with a hand sprayer. A tow behind sprayer will make her ecstatic because of the time it will save her.

I'm with Bird. I've got one like that. I didn't get the wheels or boom with mine. I just put it in the Gator and spray fencelines and such. I've had mine for 5 years now and no problems.

She's going to use it to spray the fence lines as well.

What size tank do you have on the sprayer, doc?

NorthernTool has the 16 gallon model on sale for $250, the 26 gallon model is $300. Is the extra 10 gallon capacity worth $50?

get the larger one, check the pump output, you will find the larger tank also has a larger pump. i bought the 15 gal and wish i had gotten the larger size just for the better coverage of the larger pump.

The two models at NorthernTool have the same size pump, 1.8 GPM. I will go with the larger tank anyway.

I just have the 15 gallon one Mike and it works great for what I do. Unless you were doing pastures and stuff with I don't think you need the extra 50 gallons. It's just bigger and more cumbersome to move around.
