What did your trans, oil and water temp get to? I grossed 38k last week and the trans hovered around 235 on the highway cruising 65, water was 219-223. Seemed pretty warm to me. Trans would cool down in town which was the opposite of what I expected it to do

Brett

Highest water I saw was 223 and highest trans was 239 on the biggest hill. Mostly was around 220 & 233. While it seem warm to me as well it wasn't in the yellow or red.

Thanks for the pictures. That is quite a load. What do you do for a living that requires such equipment? Can you tell me more about the Peterbilt?

I am constantly amazed at what a truck like that can pull. We have the Ram 3500 in my avatar that we use to pull the tractor down to our farm and tow the travel trailer. The Ram was a big step up from what we had before but nothing at all like your Peterbilt. Since we started towing the travel trailer and tractor we have a lot more respect for those that drive semis.

My wife is from Ft. Worth and likes trucks almost as much as I do. We live in S.C. but I told the wife that I would move to Texas if we could move to Comanche. I am not getting much traction with that idea. You guys have real summer down there. I think that is her biggest problem with the idea.

We do oilfield work. Specifically seismic for oil exploration. We help them pick the locations to drill the wells.

The Peterbilt is a 2007 379 short hood with a Caterpillar C-13 engine and a 10 speed transmission. It is registered to gross 80,000 lbs. Its a good truck it has about 850,000 miles on it but the motor was rebuilt at around 700k. The C-13 is not one of Cat's best engines but it works for what I do.

Comanche is nice. I have driven through there many times.

I had some coastal sprigged this March and they pulled in all with a F 450. If not for the number on it would have not realize it was a 450. Pulled am sure at least 30 maybe 40 foot trailer with good size New Holland tractor and the sprigger on the trailer and not sure but think a 3,000 pound roller towed behind that trailer. Was right impressed with that load but not the load you pulled. I do know they pulled at good speed for had to meet them and they almost beat me to meeting point.

How does the ride of the two compare and which do you prefer the position you have as to height and such. Will end with admire those who have the ability to pull such a load safely with decent speed. Keeping safe on the road is getting tougher and tougher today. Too many have no idea how to drive around such a rig.

Here is a closer pic of the truck. Shame it hasn't moved in over two months.

That's the truck I had in mind for a buggy hauler using a car hauler trailer. Throw on 5 or 6 buggies using a crew cab PU for people and tool hauler. Would be wayyyy cheaper than 3 or 4 PUs with goose neck trailers!!! :)

You just need the right trailer and then you can haul it all with the crew cab pickup. See a number of trailer like these around here now days. Seems most of cars are now delivered to the dealers with pickups as apposed to semis.

Yep, see them here too. Buggies weigh 4K each. Hauling six with a 15K lb rig bumps that 40K mark. Rather than do that woth a rig at it's max, I'd feel more comfortable doing it with a rig that's at half it's max. :)

BDog, if you ever need to re-paint your semi, its a pretty close Peterbilt to Optimus Prime. Would look very cool!
