Toyosha alternative

I am rebuilding my Deutz allis 5215 and replacing the 1.0 18 hp Toyosha diesel. Engine is underpowered and overheating so I want to rebuild the tractor using the gear box, 3 point, axles etc but want to bolt up an engine with about 50 more hp than the toyosha. problem is I am not that familiar with tractor interchange parts etc. a VW engine would be nice but just don't know what it would take to mate it the rest of the powerplant?

I'd be leery of what 200% more HP would do to your gearbox.
