I think we are already beyond that. )

No, Nafta was a step. Last time I checked all three countries have their own currency and I don't see that we have written a North American constition like that milktoast one the EU is working up. I don't see that we have begun military integration and I still see huge barriers in things like property rights, banking, legal issues etc. Maybe economic is not a good word for what I meant. What I am thinking of is a NA in which people can move freely between all three countries with no paper work just as we do between Tx and Oklahoma or Oregon and Washington etc, own property and buisness in any place, go to school where ever they like, have a job in one place and own property in another etc. I don't think we are there yet RAT.
Yesterday my work buddy who is like you guys---hates Toyotas and he has a old Bronco he fixed up. Get about 5 MPG but he don't care. It is a beautiful job too /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif. Well, it was hot so we took my Toyota for lunch. He had never been it . I could see that he was confused. I asked him what was wrong thinking he could not figure the lock out or find the seat belt or something and he said nothing was wrong so I looked at him and he said "this thing is nice", I assume he had preconceived notions that dem ferign cars are all little cracker boxes. Oh, the AC on the Bronco don't work, that was why we were in the Toyota.
I don't care what it is --if the AC don't work, I don't want it.

My three strikes rule--kinda got lazy on it in recent years---If I got to open the hood more than three times I take it and trade it. I open the hood when I buy it to see for sure it has an engine, I open the hood two more times it is a goner /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. Yep, I used to never open hoods, never check oil, none of that. I took the little Toy every 5,000 miles to a quick change place and what ever they did is what got done. In recent times I have gotten to where I will open the hood once between oil changes. Darn thing is using oil--can't get 5,000 miles from a quart anymore. Uses a quart in 3,000--must be time for an engine rebuild. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.
Nothing I hate more than having to work on my driving appliance. The only thing I want is total reliability, a working AC, zero maintence and go wherever I want to go whenever I want to go there and NEVER EVER have to open the hood--why is this a problem /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. Whatever driving appliance that is that is the one I want. J

"Yesterday my work buddy who is like you guys---hates Toyotas"

Where did you get the idea I hate Toyota? I often recommend them to folks.

I think Pan America Union would have been more of what you were refering to. No, I don't expect that in my lifetime.

( Good luck and remember to carry a cell phone, join an auto club, and don't travel too far away from a service center in that thing! )

My wife carries her cell phone in her Infiniti, so she's prepared. I just wish I had advice like that when I owned my Toyota. We've owned Audi, Chevy, Dodge, Ford, Infiniti, Lincoln, Nissan, Suzuki, & Toyota, and my Toyota was the only one which has left me needing a cell phone. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

( The main reason for me is the superior engineering. )

I read an article today about Honda CR-V's catching fire. Superior engineering put the exhaust system directly under the oil filter. Honda, reminiscent of the Big Three, blamed the service techs for not removing the oil filter gasket that gets stuck on the motor block without their knowledge, thus causing the oil leak. Officially the company is considering rewriting the instructions on replacement filters. Considering? There's already 164 people that reported that they had their own flaming Honda. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I guess the good news is that they catch fire before the lack of oil seizes up the engine. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Guy's I'm not really anti-Toyota, I gave them serious consideration when I shopped for a truck this past year. J had me very interested in the TRD supercharger for the Tundra, but that expense wasn't insignificant. Sorry to dissappoint, but Dodge was the best truck for me, not for you, but for me. I looked at all of the trucks before I made my purchase. I researched the selling prices, resale values, fuel consumption, reliability, and safety reports. I read the reviews, went to the autoshow, and drove the candidates. That's how I found the best truck for me and my needs. Unlike a couple of comments that I got here at TBN, I have no less fear of my Dodge breaking down than I would a Toyota or any other brand for that matter. The Dodge passed the Initial Quality Survey with zero defects, and that's better than the average Toyota...and Dodge to be fair.

Some guys take offense to the anti-Japanese sentiment, and other take offense to the Anti-American sentiment. Everyone seems to take sides for one reason or another. Guys, read the surveys, read the reports, drive the vehicles - if Toyota is your well thought out answer time and time again then that's okay, but at least open your eyes, things have changed. Generalizations about American cars are no more sillier than generalizations about Japanese cars. I could say the Koreans are kicking everyone's butt right now, and in 20 years the Chinese will be, but what's the point in that. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

OK, I fear it is time for a group hug, I go first, I love you guys /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I have been all over and y'all are the best, no kidding /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif.

OK, if there was a break through and some nerd with a pocket protector invented tele-transportation in his garage using parts from his mom's toaster and then sold the technology to Toyota, GM, Ford, DamDodge(DamilerDodge /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif) and Briggs and Straton--which one would you feel most comfortable with having scramble your atoms /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif -oh--and put them back together again, that is the important part. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif.
