King Kutter 72" rear discharge vs. Landpride 25-72 side discharge. Given the choice between the two for virtually the same money... which would you choose and why?

Land Pride as the finish on LP has been superior on all the equipment I have seen. My "impression" is that the LP is a bit better quality. Having said that KK, Caroni etc. all make good equipment, both our RFM's are Caroni.

I think I'll buck the trend on this one but I have had horrible luck with my LandPride 2560 mower. I have replaced spindles and they did a horible design of the tire system. Part prices are not cheap (probably same price as competition) but in my opinion at least seem harder to find parts than KK. I even took the time to write customer service and the response was basically "thats not typical" "buy a new one" my response to that went unanswered. They have had multiple revisions to parts which implies they know about the issues and improved the product but wanted nothing less than charging full price to existing owners for the improved parts. The cost of the upgrades to the spindles and tires is over $1,000. The deck itsself if very heavy and seems very well made but I seem to suffer a failure at least every 10 hours of use.

This is my first 3PT finish mower but I have a 8 year old Murrary 42" w/cut that seems to work with much less issues.

I am also about to invest in my first 3ph finish mower and from the research I have done so far, the one thing I have concluded is rear discharge is tantamount to less windrow effect and a more even distribution of the cut material to decompose and feed the new grass. :D

In fact, side discharge is out. Apples to apples,as well,as they say!

Take a look at First Choice.
Very good quality/value for the $$.

If you really want a finished look with even grass distribution a flail mower with finish blades is the way to go.

That is a bit off topic but it is something to consider.

I have a LandPride FDR1560 rear discharge finish. With new blades on it the cut is fantastic.

I own a Woods 72" rear discharge that is built like a tank, but I also own some Land Pride attachments as well and you can not go wrong with either. I can't make a comment about others as I have not owned them.
