Tracked Case

I was driving up to my cabin and spotted this behumeth monster. Thought you'd like to see it....

Not sure how to type a Tim the Tool Man grunt, but that's what I'm thinking.

What I found a little perplexing is what's a machine of this size doing in W. NY? Looking at the terrain, I'm going to guess that this pic was taken up near Orleans or Monroe counties that have the bigger farms in the region but that machine looks to be quite a bit of overkill for some of the farms in the area.

It was in Springville NY. They have some huge corn fields around there.........I was going to ask to test drive her but I didn't have the nerve to stop and ask..

Well dang... I missed it /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. I was in Springville last weekend but didn't drive past L&W (which is where I assume it is). It's still a lot larger than what I've historically seen in that area.

Thats exactly where it was. I think they are having an auction there this saturday on all the used equipment as they do every year. I have to work Saturday or I'd be there to see what things are going for..

OK, I showed the pix to the boss (wife) and begged for purchase consideration. No chance!!! Ya know I went through this some time ago when I got a new backhoe. I was at the dealer to complete the purchase of a 110TLB. While there my sales rep. asked if I wanted to demo a 310SG. Needless to say I jumped at the chance. By the way, the boss was with me. Well, totally climate controlled cab, Bose stereo and "twist grip" shifting had me sold. However, the $75K price tag did not impress the wife. I suggested a second mortgage; she responded negatively. Oh well. the 110 works for me!!!

They use that type of machine to pull dirt pans in construction also. They are much cheaper than a self powered paddle scraper and they can buy multiple units for under the price of what that single paddle scraper would cost. They use the tracked units a lot around here for construction and farming.

Interestingly, one can add tracks to most any CUT. I can't remember the addy, but someone posted a company that produces tracks that can be put on our smaller tractors. Of course, they were priced around the same as buying a new tractor!
