hello all, new member here, what a great site you guys have, a fellow at work reccommended it to me, thanx Dave. Anyway, i have the chance to purchase a kubota L2650DT with 550 hours with FEL for 8K. Can not find much info on this model and any advice would be greatly apprecieated. Thanx a lot Patio

Thanks dodgeman, I hit that website this afternoon and it was very helpful in speccing out the machine. turns out it is 23.5hp vs. the 30 that the seller is advertising. Other than that this seems to be a lost model (1991), not much info on the web. Thanks again.

I think that those tractors also had the three digit hour meter --- so it may have more than 550 hours on it. I'm willing to be wrong about the hour meter --- but check it out.

Clutch (no pun intended) advice about the hour meter I will certainly check that out. Thanks also for the web site, I guess there are a few out there. Would that machine handle a BH? With the pitfalls of used equipment it makes me wonder if I should hold off and save for a new tractor set-up to my specs. Thanks for all the help

I'm not familiar with that particular model, but most can handle a backhoe BUT I think you will probably need a subframe for the tractor and it might be difficult to find one.

Welcome to TBN fiddlehead, cars and trucks get sold when they look old or start costing a lot to repair, but tractors are often sold while still in fine mechanical condition but the owner wants something with different capabilities. Don't be afraid of a used Kubota - if it looks decent, odds are it has a lot of life left. The L2650 would handle a small backhoe - but it is usually cheaper to find a tractor that already has one with it. BTW a tractor with 550 actual hours has original tires (slightly worn), shiny paint, basically looks like a pickup with under 30,000 miles on it.

It would help the guys here to give you better advice for your purchase, if you stated the present and future use of the L2650DT. I assume for your backhoe use, the tractor would be limited to a 7.5 ft. hoe? If your future involves home construction....bigger is better?

Is this a private party purchase from the original owner, dealer, etc?
The more info of its prior life gives piece of mind too. The TLC factor is more important than the hours, that may not be accurate anyway. Paint, (original or repainted?) tires, wear/condition, fluids, general tightness of moving parts, helps in your evaluation of those hard earned dollars. Kubotas are good tractors.

If time isn't of essence, I would get brochures, prices, and more exposure first before the plunge; and then face the dreaded remorse, unless you already have tractor awareness?

Thanks for the insight, that tractor has come and gone and i am still thinking and looking, however every wheelbarrow load of crushed stone brings me one inch closer to taking the plunge. i was able to borrow a jd1050 and i think HST is the way to go. I like the idea of saving a buck by going used with low hours but it would be nice to know that i am the one to put the first hours on the machine and keep the TLC factor high. OH well the search goes on, thanks again everyone.
