Buying Advice tractor advice

"I like the idea of saving a buck by going used with low hours but it would be nice to know that i am the one to put the first hours on the machine and keep the TLC factor high."

I also looked at used machines twice now when I needed a tractor. Couldn't find exactly what I was looking for within my area. So with the money I already had for a used one and 0% from Kubota I bought new, getting exactly what I wanted.
Just a thought and my 2cents.

OK Boys I've had an awakening. I have come to the realization that i really can't afford to buy used. I don't really have all the funds up front but with 0% and a warranty and getting exactly what u want brand new it seems to be the way to go. So i ask you wise TBNers what model Bota do you suggest? Here are my specs: 3 acres soft riverfront, don't need mower or snowblower, primary use will be FEL work moving soil, brush, stone, cord wood, snow piles etc. Maybe BH in future for small projects. I am thinking bx2660. I do have a budget,can finance about 10K maybe 3 or 4k down. Thanks for looking.

Now would be a good time to visit your local dealer and sit on a few and maybe try a few out so you have a better idea of what each model has to offer. I'm sure you've seen it stated here many times, "buy your second tractor first". If you're going to buy new take your time and look.

With 0 down I'd finance 100 %
I would not wait for the future for a BH.
I'd get it now with the BX2660 while the BH is cheaper and 0 percent financing is still available for the BH as well as the tractor.

If you want to save a little money the BX25 with the BH just might be your perfect opportunity.

Not knocking a BX but for what you are describing I'd look at "B" series vs. a BX. Either a B2320 or B2620 (which might be stretch on your budget).

Just my opinon, but I'd skip the Backhoe and rent a Mini Ex for the small future projects.

Thanks PeterC, any particulars on the B series over BX , Bigger is better? i have seen some poor reviews on BX24 regarding leaking O rings, hydraulic leaks and some other issues. The most recent reviews are some of the harshest. The BX24 is on the tippety top of my price range so i may be shut out of the B series for now. The question is do you really need a BH, no, but then again I could survive without a FEL as well. I am not a contractor, just joe homeowner with a lot of projects that a FEL , BH combo could make quick work of. Thanks again for the input.

Saw this link, and I had to jump in. I am in the market for a bigger machine. I have a Kubota dt 3000 (32hp) with FEL, and hoe 132 hrs. I want to trade up to between 45-50 hp with a full frame hoe. I also have a 1958 Allis chalmers d17, that looks, and runs great I am willing to put this up also. I am wondering, if you all think I will get a decent trade in on a new machine, and if this is enough to ensure financing? I can put down some cash $5000-$8000. I had a loan with Kubota before, no problem, but with the banks not lending who knows? I don't mind a low hour used machine, what do you think? Try to finance a new machine, and get exately what I want, or work out a deal with the two tractors and cash for a compromise (used) machine? All opinions welcome

You might get a fair trade-in price for your Kubota but the D17 won't be worth anything to a dealer. I had a very nice D17 series IV before I bought my L series Kubota and what the dealer was going to allow me was $4,000. So I put it on a few tractor sites and within a week sold it for $6,500. I don't blame the dealer for the low price because they need room to deal.

Davy,

A lot depends on the individual dealer. Some do not want to carry used equipment and will only give you wholesale on your trade in. Other dealers may see more value.

I would guess you would be better off selling the AC on your own, I doubt that many dealers would give you much for it.

I doubt that you will have problems financing through Kubota. As long as you have decent credit, I think they are happy to provide 100% financing.

The dealer I am going to try first is the same Guy I bought both machines from. It will be interesting to see if he can look me in the eye, and tell me he won't take the d17, that I just bought from him last year, for almost as much as I paid (by the way, the d17 was a trade from someone else on a new Kubota). I am a realist, and I know this guy has to make some money, so I can take a little loss on that. I will be bent, if he can't do the same for me for a few hundred doller loss on my end. Thanks for the advice
