I have a few questions on the assembly of a Jinma 254:

1) What is the knob under the seat?
-I thought it was a filler for the hydraulic fluid
- It has a spring between the frame and the knob

2) There are two washers on the fuel input (on engine) but when I connected the fuel line from tank (it leaks)
-one washer is rubber and one is copper
- any idea which one goes up and which one goes down?

3) I have not started the tractor yet, but when I turn the key to "on" the oil pressure shows maximum?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Knob under the seat is a flow control valve for the 3 point hitch, allowing it to come down slowly.

Copper washer goes between bolt and banjo fitting and the o-ring goes between the banjo fitting and the priming pump.

Bad gauge, sending unit or incorrectly wired. If you have a volt-ohm meter you'll have to determine which.

Stand alongside the left side of the tractor. Turn the key back ON, but don't start the tractor. Locate the oil pressure sending unit (OPSU). It's down about knee level, and should have wire #26 connected to it. Loosen the Phillips head screw in the center, and the lock nut behind the OPSU. Then rotate the OPSU counter clockwise, and watch the gauge. Stop turning when the needle gets down to zero. Tighten the lock nut and the Phillips.

If this doesn't work, you've likely got the wires wrong behind the gauge. But to troubleshoot that, we need to know if you've got the individual gauges - or the cluster gauge.

I appreciate the advice... I noticed the oil sending unit is dented and the post is alittle bent... I ordered one this morning and will replace, then test. I have the individual gagues not the integrated cluster.

Thanks Again

In that case, the problem could be behind the dash too. There's a common 12v red wire with a lot of connectors, but that's for instrument lighting. Since the individual gauges are not all backlit, those red wires are basically useless. Some folks have created their own problems by trying to figure out where to connect them. There's also a common wire (#25) that provides 12 fused volts to the instruments. So on the back of your oil gauge you should have #25 on one post, #27 on the other. And remember, those posts are very delicate.
