Thanks. I took the sheets to a workshop and had them cold rolled to a radius of 250 mm

The dipper is starting to take shape...
First picture shows the principle of drilling/centering all the plates. After that it's easy, you just have to insert the dowels, measure the angles and tack all 4 plates together at a 90 degree angle.

Very nice. Looks stronger than godzilla.

I like your paint room. It reminds me of the graffiti in Detroit Michigan except yours has no words.

Will you sand blast it and paint it yourself? Or is your girlfriend/wife/significant other better with a paint gun than you??? :)

Well, one has to have some spot in the garage for color testing :). Who knows, perhaps I'll write something on the door...some day.
Sandblasting is still just an option...it kinda depends on the price...I have to talk to few people about that...
It has to be light and as strong as possible :)

Over here we have primer paint called rustoleum which is made with fish oil I believe. You can spray it over rusty metal then paint. It is good quality. But I'm not sure you can use it as a primer for a mixed urethane + hardener type paint. Someone else who knows should let us know.

We have something similar, but I will clean and polish all the parts before painting, so it won't be necessary.

I only use one brand of minium, its not more expensive than others but it will cover in one layer, and etch very good into the surface so it sticks. Thorough washing with thinner (let it drip off of it !!) and good minium or primer are the key to a good paint system.

i will wash the whole thing when it's done. It would be a shame after all this work to do a poor paint job... :)
