Nice job BFREAKY....I'm sure your care and attention will work perfectly for a long time (and to your specific needs) as it is custom made to fit a custom-quality individual. If ever you decide to try this particular project again, I truly hope you will try to fabricate EVERY part (in a more simple manner) just to say that you made it MOSTLY from what you were able to do within the limitations of your tools/machinery and supplies/material. If possible, and if ever a more simple design would interest you in the challenge of doing it with less outsourcing, I truly hope the steps are video archived.

As an illustrator and "tinkerer", I'm glad I happened upon this thread and am exytremely anxious to see the finished product (in use). A video would be GRAND.

Technically, you could old style "layout" the design on metal plate and cut with a torch. But there is no use in that with modern cnc servo driven plasma torches. You would spend a day or more with a grinder, grinding off the edges of handcut plate. The bending is something that it takes large machinery that nobody has at home to do. You could technically "facet" a bunch of pieces and weld to get your radii, but to each their on. The extra welding would take time and money to do it yourself. So, obviously this is a large undertaking that not even 0.01% of the population could bring to fruition. Hence, if you are going to sink the $$$ into it, why not try to do it as best as possible the 1st time?

I did not ditch you, but last few weeks I simply had too many other things to do. So, here are some rotation cycle details, and today's work; return filter assembly. I also made a small frame for mounting the pumps. You can see all those things in place on the last picture. These things are small but have alot of details so it takes alot of time to fabricate them...

Red State; but I did fabricate everything myself. Cutting the pieces by hand torch makes no sense since cnc technoogy is available. You just can't get that kind of precision and design.
Of course there can be some minor modifications or improvements which I learned while building it, but I'm pleased the way it looks at this point.

Not downplaying your brilliance at all or your outstanding achievement....and I don't recall ever mentioned using a torch by the way (that was the other guy). I simply thought this was exceptional work and would like to see you do it again some day by using materials and tools that some of us "good ole boy, shade-tree mechanics" would probably have to go about doing it. HA!!

But, since the torch thing was brought up, a heat source could be used to carefully fabricate/bend the metal to exact specifications without weakening the metal. Just saying....

Bottom line....great work!!! Will simply watch and learn and appreciate your doing what you're doing and respect all that it takes in getting to the level that is obviously above so many folks *(especially at your age).

The thing I've been wondering about since I first saw this part of the project is the top plate held down by the 6 bolts. There's a lot of stress in this area with all the metal that will be swinging around out on the business end of this thing. Do you think it's going to hold up over time or have you considered reinforcing it? Not bashing the design. Just looks like a potential spot for something to let loose.

Thanks. I started to put things together. Here's the connection of the main boom for the first time. I had to put everything in place to weld the bushings for the best parallel alignment. The deviations were negligible. After tacking everything in place, I tested the whole boom movement, just to make sure it moves in a straight line; and it's ok. :)

The 6 bolts just have to help the top weldment/pin bushings hold things in place. They are in "shear" condition, meaning they would have to shear off sideways to fail. They have to hold the forces applied by the 2 cylinders underneath the plate and any force built up with momentum of swinging the boom. And remember, about 1/2 of the force available will be on the underneath weldment. The momentum mass could be greater than the force of the cylinders. Could it be the weakest link? Possibly, but If BFreaky puts a pressure regulator in the line to the 2 cylinders, he can adjust the amount of pressure which will also slow the speed of the cylinder movement. which might be a good thing.
