Hi John,
They told me it was to fine tune it, and for some break in time. This is something this dealer does to all the new units to make sure the tractor is performing properly. I figured either that or they had a new dyno, and they want to justify it's expense.
Thanks to all that responded to my questions, I appreciate everyones opinion, as it helped me make the final decision.
Thanks,
Joe W.

Sounds to me like you'll have more than enough tractor to handle most any chore you decided to tackle. The 2910 is a fine piece of equipment and I know you'll enjoy it /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

I GOT IT !!!!! My 2910 arrived yesterday afternoon, and so far I've put over 7 hours on it last night and this afternoon. I was pulling up maple saplings that I cut off at about 4'. Some of them popped right out but the ones over 2" in diameter put up quite a struggle. I wrapped a log chain around them 2-3 times and ran the one end of the chain under the other end and up to the chain hooks. Sometimes all this would slide up the trunk and I would have to re-do it. Is there a better way to hook the chain up? Some of them I had to rock back and forth quite a bit to loosen the dirt. This is a wooded area with rich dark soil and is not compacted (at least it wasn't before I ran back and forth on it). Other than that I was very impressed with the tractor. I mowed about 2 acres of BIG weeds and last years corn stocks in preparation for the house construction, and quickly fell in love with the cruise control. I did do one thing that wasn't very smart, but by shear dumb luck I squeeked by. My house is about 12 miles from the property we just bought, so I had to buy a trailer to haul the tractor back and forth until we can get the barn up. What I didn't do was to measure the width of the 72" mid mount mower or measure the distance between the fenders on the trailer. The first time on the trailer I was greeted with a shreeking noise that sounded like the banshees from hell. My mower deck was scraping the fender. I got it squared away and carefully centered the tractor, and when I get it on, there is 1/4" on both sides of the deck to the fenders. That's just plain dumb luck, but I'll take it. It was all shiney, but now it looks like a tractor, with corn stalks, grass, and mud in all the nooks and crannies. But a funny thing happened, I didn't mind the cleanup at all. Now if I could just get that feeling to transfer over to my garage.

I still can't get that stupid grin off my face!!!
