Tractor drawn road grader

:welcome:

There has been discussion on pull-type graders, and might be helpfull to search them out. I've no written plans, but did have a pull-type (originally horse-drawn) that I was going to remove the front wheel assembly and mount the front end on the tractor draw-bar for better grading.

I own an old A.E. Adams grader that has been converted to direct mount on the tractor's drawbar plus twin hydraulic cylinders to replace the links that raise the blade. It's quite small with only an 8 foot moldboard, but works well. We installed a brand new cutting edge that I found in the recyclers and it added a LOT of strength and a nice bit of weight to the unit. Dang thing must have weighted over 125 pounds.

I've tried web searches over the months but have never been successful in finding any sites dedicated to chat about the ole road patrols. :(

Not wanting to reinvent the wheel, nor fabricate more then I needed too, I used the walking beam suspension of my log trailer, build a grader blade that bolts to the front of the hitch and now have a really awesome grader. I say that because it really smooth's out my heavy haul roads and driveways, typically in only two passes.

No plans, but I can tell you more about it, or work your way through building your own.

That guy on the back could easily be replaced by a 39 cent computer chip!

I love those old tow graders.
