Certainly wouldn't hurt to have a second set of eyes with you. Friend, another mechanic, etc.I am a competent mechanic, not certified or anything but can fix things. The tractor didn't catch fire, the back of the tow vehicle caught fire. The tractor just received heat from the fire.
I'm not 100% sold on this machine until I get to look it over.
To me...it may be fine...but I try seeing it from the dealer's standpoint. If heat caused no damage and doesn't or didn't affect it's warranty...then what's in it for them to reduce the price(?)?
Assuming they have a service department they simply could have checked it all over, repaired any damage if there was any, and sell it new at retail.
Something just seems odd to me...
