tractor Forks help

my dilemma is that I don't know if I should go with 36" forks or 42" ones. I am going to buy the fork tines new on line from some dealer, (any suggestions)

Dale,
I also have a 2320 and decided that forks would be a nice addition so here's the setup I built a couple months ago. They are close to 48", I may cut them down but I like the fact they are long. As far as where to purchase, I can only suggest trying what I did. I went to a Lift Truck repair facility and asked if they had replaced any forks recently, they showed me their scrap steel hopper which had 3 or 4 sets. I picked out a set and asked how much, to my great surprise  they said just take them, which I did!:)

Hi everyone,

I don't have access to welding and fabricating equipment, but I actually purchased my 500 pound forks from Silver Lake Fabrication in NH and a buddy of mine purchased a set of 2000 pound forks for his tractor. I had innitially found their web site on Google (silverlakefabrication.com) and they ended up being near by. Nonetheless, they built the forks for my bucket, and my buddy's forks for his and we both love them. They fit tight and don't swap around. Get this, my forks are completely TIG welded too! What the heck?

I have been looking for a cheap set of forks to make for my 3pt for a couple months and haven't been able to find anything.

Then I started looking at old pallet jacks. I just picked up an old 2ton pallet jack for $50.00. I know they are thicker than regular "forks", but for the price it sounded just right.

Now, does anyone have a need for the hydraulic jack out of the pallet jack? Or - better yet - does anyone have an idea what I could make out of it? :)

I'll post pics as the project comes together.

Very nice Shadow! You have some nice features on that- I really like the way you did the QA plates, and the joints on the channel look superb!

I made this set with the same 42" forks from Budget. I agree with buying the top QA's (I fabbed mine) and using CAT2 pins for the bottoms.

Mine come in at 143 lbs total.I haven't had trouble with strength and I've used them pretty hard.
Good Luck, You'll love having forks!
