/ ??????TRACTOR GURUS NEEDED????? #21
I have to admit, my "new" tractor is a 1995 model -- maybe the newer ones don't need glowplugs to start in cool weather. I only have to use them the first time I start it in the morning. Once the engine is warmed up, I don't have to use the glow plugs again unless I shut the engine off long enough for it to cool back down to air temperature. When the air temp drops below 30 degrees, it takes a little longer to warm the glow plugs up. Also, I don't have an engine block heater on the tractor, but I do on the Cummins. It reallly makes a difference in how easily the truck starts and how quickly it warms up on cold mornings.

Did you drop by Dunn, NC and talk to Steve Carver at Carver Equipment? He might have something like you're looking for, although he is more Kubota oriented, but he might have others too. He has been a great asset on this board, and has been great to deal with when I have bought parts.

Hi,
An engine block coolant heater will help a lot.
It's a small heating element (like a hoy water heater) that in inserted (installed) into the engine block (usally replacing a freeze plug. The element has a 110V ac plug and cord (approx 6 in) the can be connected to your home/barn power through an extension cord.

A glow plug could also be installed, prvide your air intake system/manifold has a plug/cap wher it can be inserted.

Best wishes and good luck
