TRACTOR Insurance

Check into a company called State Auto. I did the agent run around last spring telling them what I had and what I wanted. Supposedly my tractor IS covered off property since my plan is considered a type of farm plan. No since talking numbers since every case is different. Mine is a type of homeowners covering buildings, property, tractor, etc. I believe there is an extra premium for the tractor however.

At the end of the day, what really matters is what they say and do if you need to make a claim.

This is a rough one for me. I live in an area that snows and I have awesome neighbors. I’d love to push some snow for them or hit a section of my road- but I’m uninsured if I do. I spent a few hours looking into insurance for off property but the insurers wanted to treat me like a contractor and priced coverage accordingly. It wasn’t worth it for the maybe 3 hours a year I would spend off property.

I also did some recherché on insurance for my CUT.
On the onset they said OK under home owners assurance, Covered!
This year I was advised OK as long as I did not have a FEL!
WTF, always the same CUT but now not covered? (and, note covered for many years 'til now)
Now that's the same CUT they covered me for some 7-8 years.

THAT is exactly how ALL the insurance company baxtards work!
I'll bet if you had a claim while you had that loader, they would have denied it, because you had the loader, even though they took your premium for an FEL tractor for the previous 7-8 years, without advising you of their loader restriction.
I trust NONE of them!

This is hard to believe and personally I think someone at insurance company doesn't know what they are talking about. Critical you first determine whether use is maintenance of home premises and no work done for profit.
I can see them getting upset over a backhoe, since all kinds of expensive damage are done by them, though mostly done
by commercial equipment.
I'm guessing that particular company had several bad tractor claims and is now getting restrictive. I would ask the insurance company to please tell me where in the policy this exclusion lies. The big print giveth, the small print taketh away, but you can't invent rules that aren't in the policy!

I never specifically mentioned the FEL, BH or any other attachments. Just listed the make and model.

I feel that insurance companies are the scum of the earth. They will gladly take your money, but when it comes time for them to pay out they WILL find every loophole to deny the claim. They are NOT to be trusted.

Keep in mind that PILOON lives in Quebec.
Rules/requirements/conditions can often be quite different in Canada/Quebec.

Maybe it’s because too many people are using their loaders as man-lifts. :stirthepot:
