Insurance Tractor insurance?

   / Tractor insurance? #21
Sure enough, they hit me up about insurance when they delivered it, although I gave them nothing that day. I did call my homeowners insurance agent who said it's covered by my homeowners policy except that it must be trailered, not driven, to any place where it may be used other than my house.

I guess they must've made Kubota happy, I haven't heard any more from them. BTW, the dealer never mentioned that Kubota even offers insurance.

That's funny, I had gotten the impression that it should ONLY be used at my house. However, the requirement of not taking it on the road would explain not pushing for collision.

I spoke to my State Farm agent in upstate NY regarding my pending purchase and my homeowner policy only covers fire, and theft but not rollover or if I do something stupid.

Jeff396,

I bought my insurance through Germania as a rider on my homeowner policy for about $75/year. Everything is covered, including collision, and I can drive it on any public road. It's even covered if I loan it to someone, according to my agent.

In response to your question about a rash of tractor wrecks, my agent had difficulty remembering the last time they had any claim on a tractor. So I would guess that there aren't many wrecks.

And I'm quite willing to accept the consequences of doing something stupid. I can't imagine a lot of instances where it would be possible to do more that asthetic damage to our machines. Not exactly the kind of stuff you would put in to insurance. I would think they would only require collision if we were going on the raod and the accident might be due to somebody else being stupid. I remember back in 1984 when I was on my honeymoon driving somewhere in Northern Vermont, a car actually managed to hit a fairly large tractor head on. Don't even ask me how someone could do this but I would think this is what the collision is for. Not for me who will be staying on my own property. I do have to admit that the personal liability mentioned earlier does concern me though. I guess I will be making another trip to the insurance agent SOON!
