Tractor key stolen - worth replacing the ignition box?

You can buy a "master disconnect" switch from a car parts place and connect to a battery cable. Can also put a switch inline to an igniton wire. Or turn off the fuel. I once wrapped a chain and lock between the rear wheels in a remote local. Crooks are looking to get in and out fast and not inclined to hang around to diagnose a problem. Not exactly Mensa members or they wouldn't be crooks. Lots of options.

Someone mentioned earlier that not much stops a roll off truck. If crooks really want to steal something, they aren't going to worry about fussing with battery disconnects. They won't even start it. Why bother, as it isn't like they are going to drive a little tractor in a speedy "Get Away" :D:D

They'll pop it in neutral and drag it onto a truck, and gone in 60 seconds. With the thousands of members here on TBN, how often do we really hear of someone's tractor reported being stolen??

The door locks on the cab use what appears to be a real key. The odd time the tractor is outside I lock the doors, if I think of it. But really, if someone wants in it would just mean a broken window along with whatever else was stolen or damaged. About all I keep in the cab is a flashlight and a couple of adjustable wrenches anyway.
The spare key from my last tractor fits the new one.

I bet you my keys for my B3030HSDCC fit yours & vice versa. All's a thief needs to do is go to a dealer & say he needs keys for his B3030HSDCC & the parts guy reaches under the counter & plops them down.

The cab key on my RTV 1100 is the same as the compartment locks on the travel trailer.
So much for that.

you can buy keys all day long on EBAY. Try Smith and Wesson

I will say I put the key from my Kubota L4300 into my B7800 in error and then the B7800 key would not start the B7800. The switch just got sloppy and when I would turn the key nothing happened. I thought I was going to have to replace the ignition switch. Luck prevailed and when I disconnected the battery and reconnected it something caused the ignition switch to "re-set" itself or whatever and it worked again. Beats me.
By the way, many True Value hardware stores sell replacement keys for SOME of the JD compacts.

Few weeks ago during one of our big snowstorms, someone had a skidsteer stolen. Had LoJack in it, the cops walked right up to it parked in a driveway.
