any body have pics of how you mounted a tool box to your tractor? Anything home made is great too. I have a JD 2305 and trying to figure out what to do.
Also how do you upload a pic on your profile?
Thanks
Jason

I have no idea about the picture question, but here is my tool box. The OEM box was a tiny thing, immediately behind the seat on the cross bar. Pretty useless for my personality. I installed a Stanley FatMax 28" that is weather sealed and is stuffed with tools. The location is over the rear wheels so the extra weight helps there also. They also make a 23".

The "straps" and angles are Stanley mending plates and angle supports, 1/4" thick and come with conveniently drilled, 5/16" holes. They are available at your local Lowes, Home DEPOT, TSC, etc. TSC is the most expensive.

I don't have a photo, but that's pretty much exactly what I did with mine. It is right up against the SMV bracket, so I would have to mount my SMV sign somewhere else, if I had one, which I don't, because I'm never on the road.

To ad an avatar to your name, click on ''My Home'' at the top of the page, then go to ''Edit Avatar'' From there you should see ''Upload picture from computer. Click on ''Browse'' From there you should be able to go to your pictures and choose one. Good luck!

No pic, but about the same thing for me. I grabbed a small metal tool box from Harbor Freight. Fairly water tight and big enough for a couple of wrenches, tie wire, extra hitch pins, etc... This is on a GC2300, so had to be small to fit behind seat and not interfere with the top link or sliding the seat back. I put a couple of rags in the bottom to keep things from rattling too much.

I bought the pricey JDS toolbox and mount. The toolbox hangs on the mount and there is a tab on the mount that goes thru a slot in the back of the toolbox. Inside the toolbox you put a pin into the tab to retain the toolbox, then the tray go in to help keep the pin from bouncing out. I bolted the mount across the rear of my tractor

I have a JD 2305 also, I mounted a cheap military ammo box ( eBay ). On the front where the bracket allows for weight to be added, With the loader off, have to be careful not to crush it.
Now a warning : I mounted a tool box on my Dads tractor. Right behind the seat. He put a chain in and didn't get it latched down correctly. ( months later ). He was mowing with a rear finish mower and the chain fell into the PTO - this caused a 4 ' spinning log chain, Tore up the fenders, tranny, PTO shaft and mower gear box. Darn near killed him- knocked off his hat !! Reason I mention- when I see pics of a rear mounted tool box, I cringe for others safety-- things go bad quick. Hope this helps.

IMG_20131006_165756.jpg here's what I come up with, I was messing around the shop and found this unused mud pan. Drilled a couple of 5/8 holes thru the bottom. I used the same bolts that hold the 3rd member holder bracket, that was the hardest part getting them things out, added a couple of washer underneath the pan and reattached. We'll see how it goes, I just needed something to store extra lynch pins and bolts etc.IMG_20131006_170134.jpgIMG_20131006_165705.jpg. There's not much room behind the seat or anywhere else on this small tractor.
Thanks for all the ideas

Excellent point. Proper storage and use for any item.
