Tractor Names

Has anybody here named their tractor? I don't know how I got started with this but I've about always named my vehicles. Usually with regular human names e.g. Christine, Bradley, etc. Cars and motorcycles have almost always had female names, while trucks have had male names. So I'm soon to take delivery of my JD3520, which I figure has to be male, and I'm trying to find out if folks do this or is it considered bad luck or something.

My tractor is Charlie. The truck is Red Rocket and the Mustang is Jake. The way I see it, if it has any gear shifts it is male.

I am currently living in the farm house my dad grew up in. Grandpa was in the sawmill business and they had two mules. One was Kate, you couldn't ride her. But the other one Tobe, you could ride. So I named my Yanmar, Lil' Tobe. And my Troybilt tiller Kate.

My brother has a tradition of naming all of his pickups after the person he bought them from. I adopted that tradition for my tractors. I had a Case named Travis and an IH 350 Utility named Peanut. My only current tractor is a JD lawn rider named Mike.

You can tell if a tractor is male or not by flipping it over and seeing if it has a PTO between it's tires.

My kids call my tractor Jed - from Jed Clampett - it fits the tractor quite well,IMHO.

I guess my tractors name is Sweetie. Like when I really put her to work and she starts to hesitate, I just say "come on sweetie"

I have to ask... you bought a tractor from someone named Peanut?

The sellers God given name was Nathan, but he went by Peanut. I could have went with Nathan, but Peanut was a much better tractor name.

Well My tractor is Ezmeralda, I am naming it after my Dads 57 2 door Ford wagon and can only hope for the same long years of loyal service. Plus it is just a cool name

The only name mine has is manufacturer's name. Unless, you want the expletives, I have called it on occasions. Like when I bump my head on the step or something when working on it. LOL

I have a friend who names all of his John Deeres after Confederate generals of the Civil War. So far I believe he has Gen. Forrest, Gen. Hood, and one other that my brain can't recall because it hasn't soaked in enough coffee yet this morning.

Kubota RTV is "Kubby"
Ford 3000 is "Old Blue"
Bobcat 763 is "Bob" (I know, kinda lame, but it works)
Ford F250 is "Blue" (yes, it's blue)
Subaru Forrester is "Gump" (like the movie)
Harley WideGlide is "Mel"
Yamaha Virago is "Vera"
Single axle trailer is "Flow"
Tandem axle trailer "Blackie"

I've also named all the trails and fields on the little farm. It just makes things so much easier to describe!

My last F150 was lime green so his name was "Little Red"

I did call my old IH "old yeller" but now I am painting it red, so that won't work anymore. Maybe big red, because I call the Gravely little red ?
I dunno...don't give em people names, just descriptive nicknames.
