Hi!

I just bought a tractor, my first ever. I'm very excited!

It's a 2003 Kubota L3000DT with an LA402 loader and a B4672A (small 3-point mount, PTO driven) backhoe. I paid $13500. (Please don't tell me I got ripped off!!;) )

Tooled around with it a little last night for the first time, it was great fun. I plan to use it for a house-building project (trenching, landscaping, carting materials around) and then to subdue and maintain my 20 acre lot near Portland Oregon. That will mean mowing and hauling trees around, mostly. I think.

My biggest problem at the moment is that I didn't get an operator's manual. I don't suppose anyone here has one, or a scan of one?

Other questions: I can't seem to get the backhoe off. The pins are in too tight, particularly the ones on the hitch lift arms. Could this be because the lift arms are pressing down on the backhoe? I can't seem to release the pressure, regardless of how much I play with the stabilizers and bucket.

Oooh, here's another question: the lift arms have never been used, because the backhoe has never been removed. And they don't seem to work. Could this be because the little unlabeled knob right under the seat is all the way closed? What the heck is that knob for, anyway? It is extremely hard to turn.

Is there a way to get the lift arms to "float"?

Whew. Sorry about the long post. And thanks in advance for any advice!

That knob sets the drop rate of the hitch and also closes off the hitch circuit when turned to the right. Try and turn it to the left to allow the hitch to move.

On many tractors that the three point hitch arms aren't used they wil seize on the balls of the hitch. Penetrating oil and persistance!

Yeah try some pentrating oil see if that frees them up. As for the manual check with your local Kubota dealer they probably can order a manual.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I'll try opening the knob halfway or so, and shooting some WD40 on the hitch arms. We'll see what happens.

Thanks again for the advice.

Well, this worked beautifully. The problem was the lift bars wouldn't move because the hydraulics were shut off. And the arms were pinching the backhoe in place. I got if off (with a little help from a hammer and WD40) and greased everything up.

Thanks to art and offcamber for your help!
