- Bolens 1455
Hi, glad to join. Am located in central TX. Have a Bolens 1455 with a Johnson 14 FEL, mower deck and tiller. Have just gotten it into operating condition a year and a half after acquiring it (took lots of time and money). Have also restored a Bolens 1250 to operating condition. My friend and I mounted the engine and body to a railroad motorcar trailer so my motorcar club can cut the grass between the rails on a railroad. Will be mounting the mower deck to that trailer this weekend and hope to conduct an operating test. Finally, I also just acquired a BCS 725 two-wheeled tractor from Italy with a combination cutter/mulcher bar. Have purchased a new set of teeth for it and have been cleaning and painting the rusted parts this week so it is ready to put back together. Am looking forward to using all these different types of equipment.
Of course, I also have a Sear Craftsman DYT 4000 lawn tractor for the more pedestrian job of mowing the lawn around my house. My wife can't stand snakes so I have to keep a wide zone clear. Then we had a smoke cloud from a fire appear on the horizon last Labor Day when those fires were hitting central TX and I got motivated and began mowing the front yard, never mown in 10 years we had been living here. After hitting about 20 rocks, the electric PTO on my Craftsman gave up the ghost, so it was deadlined for over a month while awaiting parts. But it's back in good shape. Needless to say, seems like I always have a piece of machinery to work on but it keeps me off the streets, so no complaints from the wife (well, a few but we're still married). That's about all I have. Looking forward to keeping up with various tractor issues on this forum.
