I have been pondering the idea of buying a allis Chalmers model B fully restored .Do I need it heck no but just like the old iron.Had 3 older tractors a few years back(JD model B,Allis model C and a ford 8n) sold them and miss them. The wife thinks I am crazy for wanting to buy the allis.Anyone else feel the need to buy a older tractor?
Let's see...I have a John Deere H, R, 70, 3010, 3020, and 4630. What do you think?![]()
Got a 39 hand crank "B" that I have had for 46 years. I hope I'm still running after 76 years.

I will have a 1960's John Deere before I kick the bucket! I grew up working on farms in the 70's and 80's using them on a couple of farms I worked on, and got the desire. Probably find a 1010, 2010, 2020, a size I can get some use out of bush hogging, working food plots' etc.
I also would love a small dozer like a Case 310, Cat D2, or 2 cylinder John Deere- for pure nostalgia.
My brother, who makes a living with equipment, laughs at me and tells me that my Kubota is much more useful, but sometimes you have an itch....
In some respects I miss hand cranking tractors. Not always, but nostalgically I do.
I think you need few more.
Mine before I sold it. It ran good. At some point all the electrical was removed; hand crank only. Just mooved on to different things. Mentioned earlier, would like to get a Cub, a JD L, or maybe even an Allis G some day.
I ran a Cat 22 (gas version of D2) for two years for dad back in 51-52. Also would like to have a 'popping Johny'. I'd set it up somehow to be working on the governor just to sit in the yard and listen to it.
