Tractor
Kubota RTV 1100c, JD 740,Kioti DK 40 with KL401 loader .
I have been pondering the idea of buying a allis Chalmers model B fully restored .Do I need it heck no but just like the old iron.Had 3 older tractors a few years back(JD model B,Allis model C and a ford 8n) sold them and miss them. The wife thinks I am crazy for wanting to buy the allis.Anyone else feel the need to buy a older tractor?

I will have a 1960's John Deere before I kick the bucket! I grew up working on farms in the 70's and 80's using them on a couple of farms I worked on, and got the desire. Probably find a 1010, 2010, 2020, a size I can get some use out of bush hogging, working food plots' etc.

I also would love a small dozer like a Case 310, Cat D2, or 2 cylinder John Deere- for pure nostalgia.

My brother, who makes a living with equipment, laughs at me and tells me that my Kubota is much more useful, but sometimes you have an itch....

I had a Farmall A I took in parades. Let go of it a couple years ago. Would still like to get a Cub. Or one of those little L's maybe. The Farmall A was a lot of fun, but had some life changes so sold it.

I grew up with at least one Farmall at home and two at Grandpa's. We didn't use ours much for farming but when we were at Grandpa's we worked his. Still have a hankering to own one myself but no real need except for the nostalgic reasons. Lots of good memories...

I say go for it Coobie!

Called the owner last night his price was $2,000 firm for the 1955 allis model b.The tractor looks great and is fully restored with new tires. His price seems pretty fair to me.

Coobie my uncle gave me a B last summer need to pull it out of storage, change oil, plugs and gas and see if she will start, I think the worst will be a bad Mag. summer or retirement project.
I have a John Deere 2032 but like you enjoy the old tractors.

Sent from my iPad using TractorByNet

Deere 2020s are some of the coolest looking tractors ever built. I also want one someday.

Nothing wrong with getting a tractor for kicks. People buy motorcycles, sports cars, boats and all other sorts of things for enjoyment. I actually prefer using older equipment because 1. It is better built and more durable IMO 2. I love the simplicity that these vehicles have over modern equipment.

The old tractors have character. You can identify them by readily by the general design and outline of the tractor. These days about the only way you can identify which brand is which by the color of the thing.

Would like an old pick up one day, but I can see myself with a tractor first. I do have an Allis Chalmers G that was my grandfather's- have not used it for anything constructive for years, but still take it out and drive it around a few times a year.

Will

The allis model G was a very cool tractor.

I'll second that.

I've got a Allis CA that was my grandfathers, but it hasn't been ran in 10 years.

Old iron is cool iron. Newer tractors are great, but for your raking, brush hogging, trailer pulling, etc. duties older tractors can perform at a fraction of the investment and keep the hours down on your new paint.
