Tractor
Yanmar1602d
Greetings. I currently own a Mitsubishi track hoe but I'm considering a YM1602d with low hours and some goodies ( FEL, tiller, blade & harrow) for $5400. However, I'm a newbie so I'd really appreciate any pointers/advice from the experts (you).
Thanks,

For that specific tractor, I would post a question in the Yanmar subforum. I've never had a YM 1602d, but I do have a Yanmar F16D. I've had a 1300, 1500 and 1401 in the past as well. I think that generally Yanmar are as good of a compact tractor as there is, although they suffer some from the spectre of being grey market (except for the ones that were made for the US many years ago).

Probably the biggest thing to check out is to try to figure out if it has been "refurbished" through Vietnam - i.e. an assembly of parts of several bad tractors to try to make one good tractor. I do not know the best way to check for this (a bad paint job is sometimes indicitive, but then again, I do some pretty bad paint jobs myself). The folks on the Yanmar forum can probablyl assist with this as well.

Good luck and take care.

yep, check it out.. also check prices for similar sized units in your area, even if different make / model. check the local for sale places.. billboards at the feed store.. etc.

Figure the blade and harrow are worth $100 each. The tiller is worth about $300 (which is what I paid for a Yanmar RS1200 tiller--48" wide).

The FEL (probably 48" wide bucket) new will cost about $3200

Koyker Front End Loader 48in. Bucket, Model #120 | Tractor Front-End Loaders | Northern Tool + Equipment + Acreage>Tractors&cm_cat=Google&cm_ven=Aggregates

Used, that loader is probably worth $1500-2000, assuming it's in good working condition and isn't really beat up. So the seller is asking $3000-3500 for the tractor alone.

Check this website to see if you think that's reasonable.

Whats my Yanmar tractor worth?

The prices listed there are for grade A used tractors, running and in excellent condition.

You may be looking at a bargain here or it may have some kind of problem (engine, tranny, hydraulics). Test drive the tractor, ask questions and don't make a hasty decision.

Good luck
