Tractor Parts

From a single personal experience with mail order parts from Messicks, and being somewhat p****d off at the shipping price, I can say this after talking with them about the cost: when you order, and do not specify shipping, they will send it via quick delivery, which will cost more than cheap, slow shipping. I was told most of their clients need stuff quickly, unlike a few of us hobbyist tractor guys, so that's the default. Ask for cheap, they can do it.

Yea, that sounds nuts. Can you PM me your name so I can lookup your order and see why that happened?

Shipping is one of the biggest challenges we have with online business. May not apply in this case, but a lot of it stems from having approx 6 million part numbers in the computer, most of which do not have weight or size information with them. We often make programmatic assumptions so we can put prices to things, but with several light weight parts things can go off-the-rails at times.

Pretty excellent customer service response

Dredging up an old thread, from Messicks I ordered three filters and a couple of quarts of top off hyd fluid for my 50 hr service. The parts came to a little less than $62, but the shipping charge was over $23, making it a little over $85. I didn't need the parts ASAP, shipping taking nearly a week. Compared to most, I find those shipping charges outrageous. The parts guy was very nice, looking up the parts for me and confirming the part numbers I had already. Going to look locally next time. I'm only a hobby farmer, don't need the parts in a hurry. They wouldn't give me a shipping estimate over the phone, or I would have said "thanks, let's just forget I called".

Best part about this, is they will send you a live schematic with the item numbers on the pictures and the part numbers, with price in the table below. It takes a lot of GUESS out of exactly how it is assembled! Personally, I have had great service from them!

I realize this is an old thread, buy they don't do that anymore. No schematic with my sons order.

Apologies for the surprise. Shipping fluids is expensive as the weight adds up fast. The charge was the regular price off the Fedex scale. Not sure what conversation you had with the parts tech, but if you tell them your not in a hurry they will look for cheaper\slower options. Most of our customers are ordering for downed machines so our default process is to get things to you fast.

I ordered last Friday, supposed to arrive on this Thursday by 8 PM. Not that fast in my book. Is there some relief on those shipping charges? Only ordered three filters and two qts of fluid.

Thanks, Bryan for calling me back. Next time I won't order make up fluid, only the filters. (The two qts of make up hydraulic fluid for the 50 hr service made my shipping high). The hydraulic fluid at my local farm stores only comes in two and five gallon containers, and I didn't really need a gallon and a half sitting around for a year.

First post by a newbie here. I have read posts here for a while and understand from what I read that Messick's is a really good source for Kubota parts. I know one of you Messicks guys will be reading this so I will mention this.

I have been to their site numerous times and "tried" to create a log on. It tells me that my email is not valid. (same email I just used to sign up here).

Do I need a secret handshake or something to create an account there ?
