Whats with the piece of Plexiglas behind the seat and the board between the tires?

It's not plexiglass, it's a wire mesh. When you now cotton stalks the board keeps the cotton bolls from hitting you and the mesh keeps cotton stalks from hitting you. It's VERY painful without the 2
