Or the number of RowCrop tractors that were running around with no fenders!!! That gives me chills just thinking about it. My Dad required fenders. Even on the Oliver 77 that we used to pick corn with a mounted picker. The moment the tractor was driven from under the picker, the fenders were bolted back on.

I know the 1961 John Deere 4010 ( 85 hp 8000 pound tractor ) constantly lifts the front wheels when I let the clutch out a bit abruptly....it came without front weights and with a JD 709 ( 7th heavy duty ) brush cutter on the front I end up using the brakes to help steer it quite a bit. I need to get some front weight on this thing.

I can certainly see that a tractor that was hitched to something above the axle or with the wheels frozen to the ground would rotate around that axle in a blink of an eye.

The problem with pulling off a raised position is no matter how careful you are at slow speeds, if what you are pulling snags, you will almost instantly go over backwards...

There isn't any sense in taking unneeded risks...
