Hi All. Have been reading this forum since 2001 when I purchased my property and the garden tractor has finally died so I have decided to get a CUT. I have 7 acres mostly flat but bumpy. about 2 1/2 field and the rest finished mowed. I have some landscaping to do and a 300+ foot driveway to maintain along with snow removal in winter. I believe I have finally decided on a CK30 HST with KL130 loader, front brush guard, 5' brush hug (first choice I Believe), 6' box blade, 6' rear blade, and 6' RFM (first choice I believe) Not certain of the BB or RB brand. Approximate price with 6% MI tax of $18,500. Finally, for the questions, 1. Does this price seem reasonable 2.Is this too much/little tractor. If anything, I believe it may be too much but just curious from experienced tractor owners. 3.Are there any implements I am forgetting (I currently have no need for a BH) but other than that, any others. Sorry for the lengthy post and thanks in advance for any help I may receive.

Also, what tractors would I be compairng this to from the "big 3".
Thx
Brian

There's no such thing as too much tractor, well OK maybe, but I guarantee at some point contemplating a job, you'l say "If I only had a bigger tractor"

Hmmm, this sounds like an invitation to help you spend some money!!! I'd say Pond Scoop, Carry All, Boom Pole, Tooth Bar for FEL, Sickle mower for knocking down the weeds on the bank next to the road, 3PT line trimmer for fence row maintenance, 2 ton cart w/ hydraulic lift, pallette forks....umm, that should do it, unles you are thinking of cutting hay, or have animals to feed, or are going to have a garden, then the list gets longer.

LOL /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

All kidding aside, sounds like a great deal!!!

Can you please tell me what a pond scoop is. I do have a 2/3 acre pond but am unfamiliar as to what a pond scoop is.

Thx

The price looks reasonable and that is a good selection of implements you have picked out.

I might go another foot wider on the rear blade. Remember the blade is turned at an angle when you are using it so you aren't going to get 6 feet out of a 6 foot blade.

Also I might go with a 5 foot box blade. A 6 foot blade is a lot to handle when it gets filled up with dirt.

See the 3PT Dirt Scoop thread for a complete discussion on Pond Scoop (aka - 3PT Scoop, Dirt scoop, etc.) including a picture. Not real sure why they call it a pond scoop 'cause I don't see how it would be that useful for use in a pond.

Are you planning on using the loader or the back blade for snow? I have a long drive too and while the loader works well for the light stuff, 300 feet is a bit long when you get the occasional deep or heavy snow. So you may want to keep the back blade in mind for deeper snows. You may want to look at the back blade and make sure that when you have it at an angle that it is capable of moving the snow out of the path of both rear wheels. If not you start to pack it down with the tires.

yes, I plan on using the back blade for snow removal and grading the driveway. Last winter, some of the drifts we had accumalated well over 18" and it was a nightmare just getting out of my driveway in a grand am (pretty much had to follow my wifes Crand Cherokee tracks).

Thx
Brian
