Tractor question

Let me ask you this: What about some of the tractor packages I'm seeing? Like a John Deere 790 with FEL, BH, post hole digger, box blade, and 16 or 18' trailer? (one price I saw in Tx was $18,000 or so)...

Is that a good idea to get the package or piece the items together frankenstein style?

Did you see that at tractorpackages.com? I'm interested in that same deal. Just started looking and haven't settled on a brand or model yet, but that package has me interested....

I did see it there. I actually just googled tractor package and it popped up. I WAS looking for a website I saw a couple of weeks ago for a dealer in Lugoff SC that offered around the same deal for different tractors...

I'm in SC and going to TX for a package deal would not be cost effective for me... (I don't think).

Where do you live in SC? I moved to Dallas, Texas from Beaufort, SC.

I'm out in Pelion... SSW of Columbia. Building a house on 2.76 acres and I need/want a tractor and all of the cool stuff that goes along with it. I found a package deal for a Montana tractor, FEL, box blade, scraper blade, 16' dual axle trailer but price isn't listed in Salley Sc... I'm thinking the package is a better deal than piecing it all together frankenstein style...

One of the Chinese tractor dealers near me does that. It makes sense if you need everything in the package. However, when I looked at the offerings at that dealer (before he had packages) every implement was really cheap - thin metal, etc. I didn't see a trailer but if it is like the implements I wouldn't want to tow it.

If there really is a JD 790 package you might want to take a look at it.


edit: Does it really include a backhoe attachment? Seems like too much stuff for $18K.

Go to tractorpackages.com. They have a bunch of JD packages, and JD implements are included (cutter, ph digger, fel). The box blade looks generic, but the rest appears to be the branded stuff.

BTW, if any of you have some opinions on any of these, please chime in, as I'm a newbie, and am looking for good advice.
