Where is a good place to get a radio for a tractor and a drawbar? Is this something to be picked up a the dealer or maybe a tractor supply store?

Thanks,
Dave

You listed your vehicles, but you didn't tell us what tractor you have!!!!! Doh!

I'd look for a radio from a farm supply place. Fender mount, or under a canopy, different styles, but around $100-150. TSC, Fleet & Farm, etc or any of the popular mail-order places. Your dealer probably can get the exact same radio, & would charge an extra $25-50. My experience anyhow, depends if he is worth more money to you for the same product.

For a hitch, you have to tell us what you are looking for, do you mean the 11 hole drawbar that goes on the arms of your 3pt? Should be about 1 shelf over from the radios at the farm supply place. Again, dealer will have them, same item for more money.

If this is a swinging or stationry type of drawbar specific to your tractor, the dealer is the place to go most of the time (or junk yards), & be prepared to spend 2-3 times what it should be worth....

L kubotas come with a fixed drawbar, swinging is optional.

I got my fender mounted radio at TSC... not a rockford fozgate driver or anything.. but better than nothing..

And what type of drawbar are you needing? 11 hole 3pt?

As a former engineer on the Bose car audio project, I'd say the 2 biggest things to be concerned about are mositure and vibration. Also how are you going to hear it (like where are the speakers going). AO makes a great radio in a set of noise cancelling headphones and you take them in with you so they don't get wet). The Audiovox NH sells for the Boomer/TN lists for $365. I might look in the Overton's type catalogs for marine versions fo the car systems. Having said that I have a standard Pioneer SuperTunerIII in my TN cab. The Pioneer tuner is about the best on the market. (and getting stations and staying locked on while you bounce around is important)

The TSC radio I have has speakers installed in the weather'proof' box, and also has a headphone jack.

Bose huh.. don't take this the wrong way.. but I had a good laugh just now. ( I'm a sound engineer for a fairly large media company... so needless to say, we get to do lots hands on work with lotsa PA equipment, and work with big name acts.. just this year we;ve had Lee greenwood, lary gatlin and vince gill just to name a few... Anyway.. back to my point.. Most of our gear is mainstream pa stuff.. EAW, EV crest, QSC, JBL Crown, mackie, allen heath, midas.. etc.. And then this Bose rep comes along and gets inthe pocket of the owner of the company.. golf buddies.. etc.. now our new performance stage gets a new pa system.... all bose...

While I think the wave radio is a great idea... bose hardware for concert series events is just funny.. I have to appologize to every musician or act that comes thru that venu .. As soon as they get ther and see the name on the flown cabinets their eyes roll... And you don't know how many times I hear these two lines:

"No highs - no lows.. must be bose.."
"B.O.S.E. = Bring Other Sound Equipment

Not a pick on you.. just I'm so conditioned to laugh when i see or hear the word bose I couldn't help myself.

On the other hand.. I have little experience with consumer level bose products.. for all I know they are great!

Got mine at Atwoods. Its an Oklahoma version of TSC. They had the shorter version Cat-1 bars for my Kubota BX. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yep, the 11 hole is what I need. They have them at the dealer. I think he had them for about $20.

Can you replace the radio in the TSC fender mount box, with something a little more modern? Or is vibration too much for it to take?

Thanks,
Dave

The generic radio in the TSC unit is standard size.. so I don't see why you couldn't replace it. However.. I doubt you would want to put a tape or cd player in there.. I would think even with the anti-skip technology.. the cd wouldn't play correctly.

If you just wanted a better radio though.. like a digital one.. I would thing.. 'yes' provided you know how to wire up the outputs.. etc.

How about Peltor/AO Worktunes. Hearing protection and AM/FM stereo in one. They work great and cost about $50.
