Completely agree.

Any electronically tuned radio will satisfy this requirement.

At least not for long. I'd avoid anything with removable, rotating
media. In the type of environment seen at the tractor seat it won't
survive. Actually it is a credit to the engineers who design these to
last for as long as they do in an automotive environment.

Funny, when I asked you if Soundguy meant you worked with SR, you said no, that you do structural accoustics... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I don't remember ever saying that I didn't do live sound.. ever... ever.. If it came across like that it was either a misscomunication, or I didn't even read that part of the message.. etc.

Perhaps I meant that I didn't only do SR ? hard to say. Do you have a specific message to refer back to?

And while our crew does live sound, we also do instals and anylize rooms to help correct for geometric aberations... but I would easilly say that the bulk of my time is hands on SR.. and easilly 6 hours a day is production work.

We do recording, both on a sound stage, and in live environments. Our media division incorporates a radio station, and broadcast/cable tv station, as well as print media.

None of these are mutually exclusive.

My time is probably evenly divide between live sound and instalation/maintenance work. With a good bit wasted on meetings etc.

I see, so you are quite qualified to jab AndyMA on his automotive stereo experience...

I have to agree Soundguy. I had a Bose system in my former Cadillac Seville. No highs, no lows, it was Bose. I now have JBL in my current auto, and there's a world of difference. I had sold the Caddy to a friend who commented one day that my radio was much better. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif John

( I see, so you are quite qualified to jab AndyMA on his automotive stereo experience... )

I think your taking my message completely out of context.. I wasn't 'jabbing' Andy, or his qualifications in the first place.. if anything I was 'jabbing' BOSE.. big difference. ( Kinda like politics.. I can 'hate' the democratic party.. but like a specific democratic candidate. )

Here's a repost of my message.. I'll italics a few key
sections:

( Bose huh.. don't take this the wrong way..

Not a pick on you.. just I'm so conditioned to laugh when i see or hear the word bose I couldn't help myself.

On the other hand.. I have little experience with consumer level bose products .. for all I know they are great!
)

First I prefaced it by 'dont take this the wrong way'.

Then I specified that it 'wasn't a pick on you'

Then I concluded that I didn't have experience with consumer level BOSE hardware... car automotive DEFFINATELY falls into consumer level hardware.

I was merely making a comment about BOSE hardware in mainstream concert series events.. and it IS laughable.. I didn't make up the popular slogans:

"No highs - no lows.. must be bose.."
"B.O.S.E. = Bring Other Sound Equipment

Those have been around and coined long before me.. and not without due cause.

While Bose is great for classical systems.. perhaps even jazz... You just don't see touring bands or big house installs of BOSE gear.. with the possible exception of houses of worship... or stadiums built for sporting events.. not bands playing.

No reason no to be civil here..

Has anyone mounted/built a weather proof box for the stereo and mounted the indoor/outdoor speakers on the ROPS? I still love the sound on the tractor (music to my ears), but I also realize I have hours of mowing ahead of me too. It would be nice to have some tunes. However, got to try out the tractor first and see if the noise level will even allow it.

I close on my land today!!! Still waiting the Kubota dealer to locate a L3830 GST for me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Took a JD990 for a test drive last night. Good tractor, more money, and less gadgets.

Thanks,
Dave

That same fender mounted radio setup I mentioned from TSC also comes in an overhead version for mounting to a canopy.. etc... gues you could adapt it for rops mount.
