Tractor rolled over on me this morning

An update. Neighbor with JD 5030, 3 qty 4 wheelers with wives, daughters, boyfriends, beagle and 3 coolers of beer came over. Tractor is upright and now pulled into shed where it will sit for 2 weeks before I can make it up to farm again. Then I will pull glow plugs and begin slow process to see if damaged.

Amazing that they did all the work AND provided the beer. All agree that God took care of me that I am still alive. Life is good!

Glad you're up. For others in a similar situation, here's another vote for letting a dealer or other pro help:

My transmission failed. Something stripped or broke or whatever, but it wouldn't go forward or backward. Mechanically that's beyond me so I called the dealer, who trailered it to the shop.

Once it was there, they discovered that the high/low range shifter was in between its two positions, thus in neutral. Everything was fine when they shifted it into high or low. So they called and told me, and said they'd still have to charge me $100 for bringing it in and dropping it off again.

I asked them how much more they'd charge to not tell anybody. They said they'd do that for free.

These threads amuse me. The drama is so thick you can cut it with a knife.

Getting the tractor back on it's wheels was a simple process proven by the helpful neighbor. If I couldn't retrieve it myself, my neighbor would have been called within an hour of tipping over. My neighbor would have brought beer as well.

I wouldn't trust leaving the tractor sit for two weeks as a prevention of hydro lock.

Removing the injectors is usually a painfully slow, mechanical process. How much stuff you have to remove, including the hood, to get to them depends on design. Also be extremely careful to not break the injectors during removal.

If you can access the front crankshaft pulley with a socket and breaker bar you might try turning it over by hand? Understanding you need to turn it thru a couple complete revolutions to make sure it's not locked. Just a simple wiggle of the crankshaft tells you nothing.

I suggest you go back to your helpful neighbor and ask his advice too. If he's a gearhead/farmer type he might have some solid tips to offer.

I’d start with rotating the crank shaft with a breaker bar. After 2 weeks any oil has probably leaked back out. If it is locked which I doubt pulling the glow plugs would be a lot easier and accomplish the same result.

Actually can't say exactly. Trying to go over downed tree and also got on top of the stump hidden in tall grass. It made a hard turn and went over.
