TRACTOR SAFETY!!!!

   / TRACTOR SAFETY!!!! #11
Glad you are OK. That can happen with any vehicle that has a clutch. I once had a VW bus that I was revving the engine pretty hard on. My shoe had oil on the sole, and slipped off the clutch. Did you know that a 1970's VW bus with studded snow tires can do a wheely about a foot high? Pretty scary stuff.

Also had my foot slip off the clutch of a forklift. Repeatedly rammed an airplane , long story, fun reading. Also scary situation.

These are some of many reasons I went with a hydro. However, there are some things about a hydro that you have to keep an eye on. One is if it creeps when you take your foot off of the pedals, it needs adjusting so it won't move when no feet are on the pedals. This is a very dangerous situation if not corrected. Also, on some models, like this itty bitty picture of my IH2500B,

or my PT425 a foot under the reverse pedal and lifted can make the tractor go forward, or under the forward pedal can make it go in reverse. You have to be careful when mounting or dismounting hydros because of these peculiarities. Just common safety and familiarization with your machine.
