Tractor Shopping

You will get more tractor and save money by looking at Mahindra, Kioti, TYM, and Branson. BTW, these mfrs, have the heaviest tractors - a big plus for your plowing tasks.

Buying slightly used can also save you big bucks.

Thanks for everyone's input and opinions.

I decided on the Kubota. In the time since I began tractor shopping, I learned that I also have to replace my furance and AC. So the $ crept into my decision more than I had hoped. That said, there were several things about the Kubota that I liked esp. the all in one hydrostat pedal that I do not have to stretch to reach.

I will post pictures once it arrives and I start into my spring projects. If only it would warm up and feel a little more like spring.

How can you make a blanket statement like that and expect anyone to take it seriously?

Allow me to shoot some holes in your statement:

Per Mahindra's MSRP on their website, you're not saving any money from what I can tell, and US dealer presence is sporadic.
Out here, Kioti is priced right at and often times higher than the comparable offerings from the "big 3", and dealers are also few & far between.
There are supposedly a couple of TYM dealers out here, but they don't respond to inquiries, and based on the names of the "dealerships", they don't appear to be anything more than office suites, if they even exist.
OK, so Branson, though limited in it's dealer presence out here, does seem to be competitively priced.

A lacking dealer network doesn't instill confidence in any brand. More tractor than the bigger, better established competition? If they were, and based on the time that some of them have been around, they'd have a bigger presence in the market than they currently have.

I guess I found out different, price wise while shopping the big 3 and others verses Kioti.I looked at JD,NH,Kubota, case,Mahindra. My 2008 kioti DK40se(41hp) was around $7,000 bucks cheaper the a kubota grand L 4240 and $$2,800 cheaper than a Mahindra 4110 and just as many Kioti dealers here locally in Southern michigan as the others.coobie

But that's my point - none of us can make blanket statements like that because pricing, availability, etc. differs so much by region. We can talk about what we've found in our own search, but to announce that our findings based on our particular situation/location, is the way it is (in general), wouldn't be accurate.

Birdbrain,

Enjoy your tractor. I'm sure you'll get years of good service out of it. The good thing is that it's hard to pick wrong. There are many good tractor manufacturers out there.

I was in a budget situation when I was tractor shopping as well. It amazes me how well the "big names" hold their resale, but I was able to shave about $3000 off of a 3320 by purchasing a 450 hour 2005 model machine. Any late model used tractors on the lots near you?
I was able to shave $2500 off a new bx1500 by going used over new but i bought them both.
