I'd be interested to know who let's their tractor sit most of the winter months. I realize this may be a regional question with regional answers.

What's the longest your machine has been 'off' or bascially inactive?

Mine sits outside idle from about November through April. It also sits outside the rest of the year as well, but it is not idle during the growing season. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The photo in the link above was before I got my storage container to store my Bobcat. That now is out of the elements.

My father-in-law had a 9N that sit for 5 years a buddy of his 8N went down, so my father-in-law went and put a new battiery in it put some gas in the in intake turn it over fired up run a min cut off put more fuel in it started it up stayed running after that. The the fume smelled funny. He let it warm up and off he went put some new gas in, put the tractor to work cutting hay. The way gas was leaking out the carburetor never dreamed it run. Found out later the gas tank was lined with something to keep it for rusting. I still see alot of them for sell 2500 to 3500 easy. Sam

Since I've to the cab model TN, my 2120 sits most of the winter idle outside on the farm. Just can't get myself to plow out in the open when I've got a nice warm cab with stereo /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I guess mine has been kind of sitting idle; I put 300 hours on it in the first 9 months, but only 32 hours on it in the past 3 months. That's next to "idle" for me. I've been working inside on a another project. I brought it over to Port St. Lucie from Okeechobee, and use it a couple of hours a week loading construction debris into the dump trailer, moving cars and engines, and even as a man-lift when putting up siding. Once I get his building done and sold, it'll go back to Okeechobee and resume it's "normal" life.

Due to drainage issues with ice buildup in front of my garage I was out in mine several times through the winter... no cab... no stereo... oh the hardships! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I did get very cold - but I was still thrilled to even have the tractor regardless of the weather.

Dap:

Maybe 2 weeks at the most, summer time it's running to keep the pastures in check and the compost bin's rolled but in the winter about all I fire her up for is the manure bins and yard clean up or to pull her out of the barn so I can sweep the alley way.

She almost never spends the night out, always tucked away nice and cozy in the barn, I learned the hard way with my first tractor by leaving it outside most of the time .....worst thing I ever did to that tractor.

I know you're glad to keep your beast in that! To answer the thread, use mine all the time here in Florida. Two days has been the most since jan. 26 that I haven't been on it. Thanks for the pic. John
