beat it leave it out in the cold, crap it up seems to be your motto. Your machine must be wreck. greg

He says he maintains them mechanically. I have seen a lot of equipment that runs great after having been parked outside and do so for a long time. Big equipment like combines, etc do it all the time. What percentage of people park their track tractors inside? If you can park it covered do so, but to some it comes down to a business decision.

bx25 is cheap like my dads 3030. its not like you feel bad if it gets dirty so I don't think this thread applies to us. although we do have a clean cab though. we didn't spend 50k so we are good to go like an old gravely walk behind right buddy. nice to see a fellow dirtball on here. friends me on xbox if you can

Shut up about you and a 3030, It is clear to any smart person you don't have one, You would have pictures of it and be bragging if you had one... You say BX3030 when its clearly a B3030.... A bx25 may be cheap in your dreams, but when you grow up nooodles you will understand that about 20k for a bx is not exactly "Cheap"

VTtractorguy - I don't think that I would be concerned about a tractor sitting for a month in the yard, being weathered, but I understand that you want a new condition tractor given that the purchase is also new and original. That said - I would think that a tractor has a better chance on a lot, than a vehicle sitting in the weather.
Don't cringe or you'll forever wonder if the shipping date was 3-4 months before you noticed it - it may therefore be preferable for you to get a fresh one and then at least (if there is any) weathering it is done by owner. Enjoy the purchase, whatever you decide.

So, you've been here all of a week and already chucking s**t! You don't even know this guy. What you're saying is if his idea of how a tractor should be treated differs from yours, he's wrong. Boy, you need to take a pill.

Virtually ALL heavy equipment sits outside 24/7 and sees the inside of the shop, only when it needs servicing. Anyone who has worked in that environment is probably gonna have that view.

That's it in a nutshell.

I dont know where these dealers that store all their equipment inside prior to sale are, but they must be a really tiny dealer with a large amount of storage. All dealers Ive worked at and/or shop at keep their tractors outside, even the BX sized machines. Even the ones in crates. About all that gets put inside is things like MMM's, snowblowers, buckets etc, but not even all those get put in storage, there is just no room. So if the OP wants a factory fresh machine that has never seen outside storage, I dont believe its possible, even when in crates, they are shipped/stored outside. Its an unreasonable request.

We're talking farm equipment here. Not bulldozer, mining trucks and draglines.

A lot of farmers store there equipment in barns and sheds. Period. Especially planters, combines, etc. it's good business sense. Take care of good equipment and it will take care of u. Same concept as keeping aircraft in hangers, etc.

Im referring to both. When have you ever seen a larger (or even a small) farm tractor stored inside at a dealer? Or anything above a compact for that matter? It just doesnt happen.

A farmer may, if he has the room, store a tractor inside, but its usually the machines and attachments that arent regularly used, like a planter, fert /manure spreader, sprayer, combine etc. Most of the regular use tractors are outside.

Anyways.. Id sooner deal with sun fade than bird crap all over a tractor from barn storage any day.
