Tractor Snowblower usage Tradeoff

You keep your tractor in his heated garage and he will give you some labor as well I think it is a fair deal. I imagine if something happens to the tractor (your fault or his) you would have a skilled person to ask for help.

I trade with my neighbor. He lets me cut firewood on his land and I help him out with construction projects on his farm. We put up about 300 bales of his hay in our barn and no hurry for him to take it anywhere... and so on. A few weeks ago when I came home after a long days work on the tail end of a decent size snowstorm. I found that he opened up up the entry to my driveway so I can pull in instead of getting hung up on the snowbank. I never asked he just though of doing that. A couple of years ago he tilled up my garden and dug the 24 post holes for the fence. His tractor quit due to water in fuel last month and he came asking if I could tow it back to the barn. Naturally I dropped what I was doing and went for the tow. I hope to help him out whenever I can simply because a good neighbor is worth it.

Hi everyone! I let my neighboor use my BX2350 with frontmount snowblower so he can do his laneway....

You might want to double-check your homeowner's insurance to be sure that your tractor is covered when your neighbor borrows it. I spent quite a bit of time with my insurance agent to determine what was and was not covered with regard to the use of my tractor under my homeowner's policy. My homeowner's policy is with Safeco, and here's what I found out:

[1] Tractor itself is not covered when borrowed by others who are not members of household or immediate family.
[2] Tractor itself is not covered when not being used on my own real property or easements attached to my real property.
[3] Damage caused by tractor on real property of others is covered by homeowner's policy.
[4] Tractor is covered when in transport from one property to another (such as on a trailer).
[5] Tractor is covered on public roadways.

Comprehensive coverage for the tractor would have cost me about $800 a year, which I thought was a bit steep.

Sounds to me like a good neighbor to have a relationship with- a heated shop, mechanical ability, etc. I have a good friend that lives 5 miles away-he is a factory mechanic, and a crafty guy. Anything I have is his to use-and he maintains all my vehicles for peanuts, spent 40-50 hours helping me build my pole barn last summer, and if I stop to see him and he is splitting wood, etc., I pull on a pair of gloves and go to work.

I have never thought of trading labor with him-he helps me and I help him.

Will
