I was able to hook up this wood splitter to my B3030 without power beyond by using the hydraulic connections serving the FEL.It's not lightning quick but definitely fast enough for me.I have about $850 invested in this setup including a 10% coupon for Tractor Supply. All hydraulic fittings and hoses were obtained from Discount Hydraulics.

Idk what the GPM is on your 3030. Or if the loader valve is different than the BH plumbing on a BX, but I had. A splitter on my BX22 and I believe it was a bit faster than what your video shows. Either way, it beats the axe.

I believe the gpm on my tractor is 5gpm.The quick connects for the loader are 1/4" which kinda limit speed as well.

poosniffer,

The way you have the log splitter will work for a while until you damage your log splitter valve.

The OUT on the log splitter valve is rated for about 500 psi, and back pressure could damage that valve.

You can use the work port on the FEL valve and bungee the lever, and then run the OUT hose from the log slitter valve directly to tank.

You should use the PB port with adapter from the FEL valve to a hose and QD at the back of the tractor. Then run the OUT hose from the log s litter valve to tank. You will not need to bungee any valve.

When not using the log splitter valve, reconnect the PB to the 3pt.

What is the relief setting on the log splitter valve. Does it match your FEL relief valve?

If you like it like it is, then fine, I will not say more.

poosniffer, Thanks for posting that video. I have been thinking about that same splitter for some time now but was trying to decide if the cycle time would be good enough for my limited use. I can calculate the time which on my tractor would be 9.5 seconds extend time but was hard for me to picture how fast/slow that would be. Yours @ 5GPM is 16 seconds so I can easily live with the 9 1/2. I also have the 10% coupon and it expires next Sunday. A quick stop at TSC on way out of tomorrow is in the works.

HI JJ WOW that's a lot of info.I wanted to keep this setup as simple and cost effective as possible in order to avoid having to buy special adapters and tank. Not sure what the relief valve ratings are of either that you mentioned. Is there a diagram that could help me visualize this setup.Thanks.

Not really, as it is fairly simple.

Your loader probably uses the hyd blk below your right foot to feed the loader and the FEL PB line feeds the hyd blk.

You have a supply hyd line from the hyd block that feeds the 3pt.

You can install a bracket with two QD's at the back.

This setup could also feed a BH if ever needed.

You cut the line that feeds the 3pt, and install compression fittings and two short hoses to the QD1 and QD2

QD1 is where you plug in your log splitter, and the log splitter OUT hose should go to any return line to tank.

When not using the log splitter, make a jumper hose and connect QD1 and QD2.

Did you notice that you can't use the 3pt with the FEL lever locked open with a bungee.

If you have a manual for your tractor and your splitter, the relief settings should be stated.

Thanks for all that info JJ.You lost me at "return line to tank".Do I not connect log splitter IN and OUT to QD1 and QD2? Sorry if I'm asking a dumb question.

Also, why would I need to jump them when not in use if I am QD's?
