A new TSC just opened in my area and I’m going there this evening to check them out. I’m guessing they will be a good source of attachments and supplies. I thought it might be good to have a thread to discuss the good and bad things about TSC. Mainly, what to watch out for. As far as I know they haven’t had their grand opening yet, so I won’t buy anything tonight, except for a few small items, and wait to see what kind of sales they have. I’m also curious about what kind of salespeople they have. Hopefully, they’ll be competent and knowledgeable. I’m expecting to see a lot of the same faces I saw at the Quality store that was in the same building.

I was planning on buying a 5' King Kutter bush hog from them, but already found one at a local independent tractor place for $500 (already assembled correctly) and a boom pole, but I got one of those for $60 at the same place. I was also going to buy a 42" Agri-Fab lawn sweeper (I wanted one about 5' wide, but no one makes one) from them. I already called them and found out they had a pretty good price - $240. But, I found a Brinly that folds up for storage http://www.brinly.com/products/sweeper/sweeper42.htm at Home Depot for $200.

I’m sure I’ll buy a lot of stuff from them over the next several years, though. Tonight I’m going to take a look at their pressure washers, landscape rakes, hydraulic cylinders, etc and see what else they have that I want and can’t afford!

Danny,

My experience with TSC has been varied. The one closest seems to have less competence in the sales people than I would like, but the one 45 minutes further seems much better. Hopefully being a new store, they will have it stocked pretty well. It's kind of hit or miss whether they have specific things you are looking for, and depending on the sales people, might be difficult to get them to get something they don't already have (twice I've had them tell me they don't carry something, when I know that they do, but didn't have one in stock). There was an entirely different thread on bottom plows that ended up talking about TSC some. The basic conclusion was that it shouldn't be considered "full service" store, like you might find at a dedicated implement/tractor dealer.

Cant speak for that stores employees but the store near me just reopend as TSC and they retained the QF&F manager and I'd expect to see the same faces when I go soon.

Methinks the kind of person that would be attracted to working at a TSC has the option to work at other places but prefers a TSC because it matches thier interests ie: gardening, animals, tractors and such but then again I could be totally wrong.

I spent the most time in Quality stores because they were more convenient but I looked forward to going to TSC's for stuff they carried that was better quality that Quality like trailer, welding, and chain accesories.

Wasn't Parker the big name in lawn sweepers?

Ours up here in Gaylord MI opens nest Monday and I will there to look them over early.
I have had good luck finding what I needed at the stores downstate and hope that their customer service will be better than the Quality F&F they are replacing.
I really need a new air compressor since my 18 year old one bit the dust about a month age.

My experience has been the same there as at most places these days. They don't pay much and generally hire kids who don't know anything. Even the manager at ours knows nothing at all. He is a nice guy and is willing to help but he just has no clue about anything...neither does the help. They have the stuff you need when you need it but I've never bought anything big there. They are real handy to have around when you have a breakdown though.

I visited the one in York, PA about a week ago.

I asked about a 48" King Kutter rotary cutter. After I explained what a rotary cutter was, the salesman took me out in the yard to see 'em.

He then looked up the price...$519.00. That's a few dollars high, I think.

I wasn't overly impressed with that TSC store (well, the saleman I spoke to, anyway). I will shop there (did pick up their catalogue). Some prices were good...a buck for the lynch pins I needed ($1.55 at the local ACE hardware). But I think I'd want to know exactly what I wanted before going back in that store.

the good and bad things about TSC

Worst thing about TSC is that they don't seem to have any stores at this end of the country.

I've noticed here that the current TSC stores, not the new ones set to open soon, have increased their prices considerably. Not much competition around. I did some comparisons on things I had purchased before the buy-out. 28-36" PTO shaft for my tiller was $65.00US. now it's $125.00, which is equal to what Quality sold them for. A few other things I priced had increased as well, not the same increase but still higher.
