Tractor Supply is Coming

I use Tractor Supply for bolts, hydraulic fluids, and pins. That's about all. I work in an area that has Lowe's, Home Depot, Northern Tool, Harbor Freight, Napa, Auto Zone, Advance Auto, etc. I am fortunate to have a local Ace Hardware store within 3 miles of the house that is a full line hardware store. Tractor Supply is OK by me.

We had a Tractor Supply open up in our small town a year or two ago and I make it a point to do some shopping there, partially because I try not to spend too much money at Wal-mart, which is pretty much the only other game in town.

I usually buy dog food and kitty litter there because it's the same price as Wal-Mart, and I can get in and out much faster. I do use it, as lots of other folks mentioned, to buy bolts by the pound and other assorted hardware items. They always have a clearance section in the back of the store and I've picked up several tools and odds and ends, even some nice leather rifle slings for $10. I get their sale bills/coupons, and they will have good deals on grease and oils periodically.

Not long after they opened, I had to work on my Isuzu Rodeo and it was a Sunday. I needed some metric bolts and all of the local hardware stores are closed on Sundays (good for them!). But I was glad that I had TSC to go to so that I could get the bolts and finish the project.

I'll say that in general, I like my local hardware stores better, and I like Rural King better than TSC (but we don't have a Rural King), but I haven't had a bad experience at our TSC. I was pleasantly surprised two weeks ago when I needed some parts for my Troy Bilt trimmer. They had the right spark plug (which is kind of an odd ball - I've had troubled finding it before) and fuel lines, plus had a fuel filter I needed for another mower. I ended up spending about $30 (I bought other stuff too) but I got everything I went in after, and that's sometimes tough to do anymore.

Hope the store mentioned by the OP pleases them.

Good luck and take care.

We have Atwoods here in our town. It's like a TSC but better as far as chain tractor supplies go. Carry basically the same stuff but better selections and set up more like an older hardware store instead of a Wal Mart type of setting. They have a really nice gun safe I have my eye on and hoping they have a sale soon! Lol

I have no vested interest in TSC, so I'm really not compelled to get into a defensive position for them. However ..... especially for those living in small communities with a TSC store - they came to your town when most others did not. They provide local jobs and pay local taxes. They provide a wide variety of useful items, even if they aren't the very best. If I need "something" TODAY - they probably have it.

Would I like to see the Mega-Farm-Tools-Tractors-Toys Store come to town? You bet! Guess what ... They aren't coming .....

That is our situation too. TSC is here, it is what it is, and at least it's something.

A TSC just opened in our small town a few months ago. Last week the safety cover finally gave out on my rotary cutter PTO driveline and they had the parts to fix it. If not, I was looking at driving at least 75 miles for the parts. The people working there aren't real sharp on what they sell however and the prices are high. But living in the boonies, we pay high prices on everything here.

Agreed on most all points made... TSC does serve its purpose in small towns. In mine, south Alabama, TSC is open on Saturday and Sunday.
The local tractor dealer with a few parts is open only Mon-Fri, and the next closest place is 40 miles away and open only M-F and Sat AM.

Since my place is a weekend place, when I need something, TSC is the go to place. When something is broken on Saturday or Sunday, I have a choice to stop where I am and get the part weekdays and try to make it work the following weekend, or run down 7 miles to Tractor Supply and get it.

Easy decision.

There are two of them in Tyler, one that has been around forever, and a new one that's a fair bit larger that just opened last year. I like to use them as a starting point when looking for something. I've found better prices on most things from Atwoods, but sometimes they don't carry the same things and Tractor Supply will have what I want when Atwoods doesn't. Since the new store opened, I've been going there more and more, but still walk out of the store empty handed half of the time. One thing that has really impressed me is their Country Line brand of augers for the post hole digger. It's just amazing how good it drills into the ground!!!! Atwoods sells Speeco, which was an improvement over my original Linbaugh Line auger, but nothing compared to Country Line.

The biggest plus for TSC is that they are open seven days a week.Biggest disappointment was a Johsered chain saw we purchased and returned.I always thought they were good saws but that particular model(50cc) was terrible. We found out later that a lot of them had been returned.

I read somewhere - perhaps their Blue Book - that they will take and recycle your used oil and hydraulic fluid. I have never confirmed that as it's about 35 miles away from me.

I too only go to TSC for nuts, bolts, and Wrangler jeans and shirts . Every couple years the local TSC here will mark down there attachments way low (rust) because being as far SW as you can go in Fla theres a very limited sales market down here. Remember we are also on a peninsula .
Doe's anybody remember some 5 years plus when TSC sold "Dark Horse' implements ?
They made King Krutter and Countyline attachments seem like premium stuff !!!!

A couple years ago they opened up a Rural King (Bonita Springs) 25 so miles north of the TSC store (near entrance to Marco Island /TSC) and I'd say they are putting a hurting on the Naples TSC store . Not to mention also Rural King is selling firearms at some very competitive prices around here .
