Well it looks like I'll have another project for the shop!

augercreek: l use a stright pry bar and a post driver to break the tire bead.If the tire is rusted to the rim lay the tire down and pour a bottle of classic coke around the bead.I have freed up several stuck engines with coke, and it seems to work much faster than penetrating oil.

I bought one of the slide hammer bead breakers, and only on a few tires have I found it to be helpful,

and things have to be fairly recent to make work,

many of the thing I work on have had tires on for 20 or more years, there have been times the only way to remove was to cut the tire off the rim, on my 6x6 the tires had been in place for over 50 years,

I have on really nasty ones taken the forks on the tractor and lift the front of the tractor off the ground and not broken the bead on the 20" 6x6 rim, and my tractor is a 9000 pound tractor,

but I have considered some thing like the C shaped frame with the Hydraulic cylinder, I have two of the manual rim clamp units, mine say do not use impact wrenches on them, I saw a unit that was designed for impact use, but it was about $600 the way it locks looks good, I have jsut felt that the price is a little more than I want o spend for my own work,

This thread looks pretty old but thought I would add my two cents. Found a new product that should work well with breaking the bead on tractor tires. Here's the product on their site, BeadBuster XB-550

This may sound crazy, I've used a tire hammer for thirty years...

I generally place the tire on it's side under the front bumper of my Land Cruiser, put the base of my hi-lift jack next to the rim and jack the front of the Land Cruiser up. A few times I've had to change the tire while on the tractor, just set the jack to pinch (use the attachment at the top of the jack), place the jack so it grabs both sides of the tire and work the handle. One side or the other will give. Try a board across the rim to get the remaining side. Tough to do by yourself, two people is fairly easy.

This worked for me when a tire went bad on my tire guy's day off.
