Tires Tractor tires

I have flats on both my front tires.

So I inflated the tires, jacked the front end up and spun the wheels around looking for the problem. I found a dozen or so thorns in each tire. I marked the location of each thorn and put soapy water on each one and there was no bubbling. I removed each thorn and redid the application of soapy water - still no bubbling. I did hear and located one small leak on one tire and plugged it up. I never could find a leak on the second wheel.

I was surprised at how soft the rubber was when digging out the thorns. My tractor has Titan 6 ply R-1's. Are most/all tractor tires like that?

At this point I think I am going to get the tires foamed so I do not need to deal with the flats anymore.

Is there any problem just doing the fronts?

You could try a sealer and see if that works. It would be cheaper.

You probably ran over some thorn apple branches which will definitely make short work of Titan R-1 front tires. Right after I got my new tractor 5 years ago, my uncle asked me to plow his garden where he had disposed of some thorn apple branches. I ended up with (2) front flats. It only took me about (10) minutes to make the repairs, plugging (2) thorn holes in one tire and (1) in the other. Have not had any more trouble since then, and those cheap cement-coated plugs have held up well. I am just glad that the rear R-1's seem a lot tougher, especially since mine are tubed and calcium-filled which would make repairs far more difficult. I wouldnt bother with the slime, since it is so easy to repair those front, tubeless tires with a cheap tire repair kit. The slime will make future tire changes more difficult. Keep a kit in your toolbox if you think you will continue to operate around thorn apples.
