To All:

My "visuals" reaction . It appears that many TBN members should reside in geriatric centers. Like many of you due to my increasing girth and deteriorating agility I should wear a SMV T shirt and I must exit left off my tractor if I want to preserve what little dignity I have remaining. I made a deal with myself a couple of years ago and I am trying to preserve those body parts that have not been rebuilt. All the metal I carry is internal- I should be smelted rather than cremated for my "bake and shake event". Two sayings pop up in my head after reading this thread- "We do not age gracefully nor well" and "Aging ain't for sissies". These were gifts from my geriatric friends. Jay

To get this thread back on topic. Yes it has happen to me. Does not seem to make a difference which side I get off on. Best not to wear shorts of chore jackets when using the tractor.

While going through heavy equipment training for the SeaBees, I had done everything right that day and was feeling good about it till the end of the day the instructor walks up to the right side of the RT forklift I was on and asked to speak with me. I lock everything down and hop down off the right side and he starts complimenting me on my performance, that is right up to the point that I exited the vehicle on the right side. He said it's like a horse, always exit on the left side all eqipment is made like that. I spent the evening on the parade ground running with him as a reminder. Seven miles later and I still exit on the left side.

If you will notice.. most equipment doesn't even have a step on the right, and may have other important things.. like foot throttles that you don't want to step on.

never have been able to tell my right from my left. I figure I'm 'bout half right.

I occasionly bump the range lever on my JD 3720. I always use the left side unless it is blocked off by a tree or fence... The right side is a tight squeeze to avoid the SCV lever. I've dumped the bucket a couple times that way. Never caught my clothing though.
I do wear shorts in the summer but can't recall them ever catching on the tractor.
My 2355 is clear sailing on the left. The right is completely blocked though.

To this day, everything I have is mounted from the left (wife does complain at times) and as others have mentioned, most equipment is designed such that entry is best from the left.

Hoping I don't sound too much like Al Bundy, highschool football got the ball rolling on the knee damage for me. Then 16 years of racing dirt bikes finished the job. (Enduros and Hare Scrambles) My right knee can forcast weather like the most advanced Dopler radar. Left knee doesn't hurt. In fact, the knee cap area is almost numb. 2 bad knees, a trick left shoulder, bad right wrist, a rib that never set right after breaking it 25 years ago, diabetic nueropothy in both feet, bad eye sight, hearing that's about gone, and allergies that are about to kill me................

If it wasn't for my breathtaking good looks, I wouldn't have a chance
