They don't make a ROPS for the MF 8040/8045 anymore-- when the ROPS standards changed my guess is that there weren't enough of these out there to justify the cost of the engineering and testing a new flavor [the 8040 and 8045 did come with optional OE ROPS, but a lot of people did not buy the non-folding ROPS].
If I was buying a used tractor now w/o a ROPS, I'd first check to see if I could get a ROPS. If not, I'd avoid it, let someone else have all the excitement working on slopes and hills.
