All tractors have their compromises, bigger or smaller. The 33 is a very good all around choice and will definitely do some serious work. If you get one, get the 758c backhoe. Mine is a TC29DA with the 758c hoe. The only difference is the engine displacement.

I dug my septic tank hole with mine at 15' long, 7' deep and 8' wide. I'm up to about 800' or more of utility ditches and my main service conduit is over 5' deep. I had to get through or around boulders along it's 220' run and set service boxes. The house footing and stem walls were all dug down to about 3 1/2'. I built a boom into the bucket and carried around the 12' long H posts for my steel building that weighed at least four hundred pounds each. Carried them vertically and set them down over the bolts. The list goes on and on.

This is a huge problem I have. A friend owns the TC33DA and borrowing becomes the same as renting as one cannot simply get the task accomplished.

I am leaning in the direction of the 33DA for the all-purpose tractor. I may just need to take it slower when accomplishing tasks.

years ago I had a TC33DA and thought it was a very stable tractor, do you have the rear tires loaded (fluid in them)? That will help stability, and of course when using the FEL always have proper ballast on the 3pt hitch in the form of an implement or a ballast box or something. Just guessing here but perhaps you are new to tractors, and while you need to be very cautious, perhaps you are a little leery at first?

I have a friend bringing over his TC33 to a jobsite next week because my 110 is too wide to fit the space. There are not many times I need a smaller tractor but this time it will save alot of labor. When borrowing a tractor it is wise to borrow the operator/owner too imo, while he has offered the tractor on many occasions I never take him up on it.

When I was in the construction business had people wanting to rent equipment all the time. All equipment had an operator come with it...no exceptions!

Really?

Mine is an Ag tractor and has never done any farming. But has worked very hard on my construction site and others. Backhoe, box scraper, auger, boom, FEL, bucket forks, towing. No problem yet.

I'll second that. My tractor gets used as a construction tool almost every day of the week, then works on the weekend at my place. It's my main source of income and has done very well at it. That's not to say that I don't rent what I need from time to time, usually a CTL or mini-X. I have no use for wheeled skid steers whatsoever, they make too much of a mess.

I have to disagree with the poster that said that you can't grade very well with the fel. I do it all of the time. In fact, depending on the task at hand, some days the box grader never hits the ground after unloading off of the trailer.

I started a thread here to share some of my experiences with my tractor. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/new-holland-owning-operating/255004-little-blue-tractor-could.html

I'll edit to add: I mow sidehill quite a few properties with steep banks that I guarantee you just plain won't be able to mow with a skid steer. With loaded tires its not that big of a deal on the tractor. I worked a job awhile back loading out trucks while a skidsteer pushed dirt downhill to my pile. The hill was pretty steep and a bit sidehill and a few times the ss just sat there and dug holes trying to back up the hill in the soft soil. No turning around for the ss on the steep slope. Each time he got stuck I drove the tractor up the hill and pushed him to get going. Once he had finished grading between the concrete forms that I couldn't fit between we traded places...him loading the the trucks and me pushing down the hill. Never had a problem with the tractor backing back up to the top.

I don't have a box blade, and I sure have graded a lot of pads, and areas and driveways with my Front End Loader.
I have never operated a SS so I can't comment on them, but I have done a lot of things with my tractors and they have all had FEL's.
The FEL is the most versatile, useful thing you can own.
